TTC After a Loss

Saline sonohistogram?

If you've had one, was it pretty uncomfortable? Could you drive home afterwards? I'm trying to plan whether I need to drag DH along for all the fun.

Thanks!

Re: Saline sonohistogram?

  • Lurking and I thought I would respond:  I had one of these about a month ago.  I cramped while it was going on, but after it was finished, I was fine. My friend and I went out to lunch and shopping.  Have you had an HSG before?  It felt like that, but a little less painful.  Pretty much after the procedure was over, the pain stopped.  I did spot a little bit, though.

  • I'm having one tomorrow. I had an HSG on Wednesday and asked the girls on 6+ to compare the two... they said the saline sono was much easier. The HSG was very painful while it was happening but I was fine to drive after so I assume I'll definitely be fine after the saline sono. I don't think you'll need your DH there.

  • Thanks ladies! I haven't had an hsg, but it seemed from what I read that the saline sono is much less involved. Good to know DH can be off the hook, he was horrified when I had the vaginal u/s for my ectopic... I don't know if he could handle another one so that's good I won't have to traumatize him anymore :)

  • I've only had an HSG and I had no pain. They are similar, so I suggest taking 800 mg of Advil about a half hour before your appt and bring your favorite pad. What goes up must come down  :)

  • I have had two of this.  I also cramped a little during it and had some spotting afterwards, but I was able to drive myself home and felt pretty much back to myself later on that day.

  • I am sorry I can't offer any advice, but I wanted to say good luck! I hope that the procedure is quick and painless for you.

  • I second Shanna: bring a pad...or two, just in case.
  • Thanks! Yeah I was reading about the necessary protection - I think I never took the ginormo pads out of my purse from my last loss so I shoudl be all set... 10ccs isn't that much but yeah... no need to take chances! Eek!

I've never had one before, so I can't give you any insight (other than from the other side, being an us tech), but have heard that you should bring your own pad - exactly what Shanna said.

    Good luck!
