Anyone else make the Top 10 list?

We're # 5 on the list of the snowiest cities in the U.S.!  https://www.weather.com/outlook/weather-news/news/articles/snowiest-cities-top-10_2010-12-07?from=sb_tools_face  Supposed to get another 4-6 feet tomorrow...cabin  fever, anyone?

  • Interesting survey.  I would've bet the farm that Durango was ahead of Steamboat and CB.

  • Yeah isn't Durango higher than both those towns???

  • Naw.. I think they're all pretty high up there in elevation... so that's probably a wash.  SW Colorado just gets a crapload of snow all the time.  CB is a little removed from that area, and Steamboat.. well... I didn't think they got that much.

Maybe it's just that the roads down there are always closed due to snow and you never hear about the other areas being closed that often.

  • Nope - we only had one day of snow and surprisingly there is still snow on the north facing yards on my street.

  • Did you read about that place in New York getting 9 inches an hour???  I had no idea the Great Lakes area holds short-term US snowfall records (and I'm from that area!)  Meanwhile here in Truckee we hold the world record of 16 feet in 4 days.  Might happen again this week by the looks of things...

    LOL!

I'm grateful that while Northern NJ does get snowstorms, it's not usually measured in feet (beyond 1-2).

Hahaha!  Actually we live here for the summers and fall, which are slowly getting shorter.  But the quality of life is excellent, it's a family town, almost no crime (locals leave their doors unlocked, purses in open cars and keys in the ignition) and it's the best dog place on earth!  (no leash law)  And the mountains are beautiful and the skiing is great.

  • Are you moving away now that it's winter?

I love Truckee in winter for skiing, it's such a cute little place.

I wish!  We live here FOR the summer and fall, not IN summer and fall only Wink  Gotta stay year round to make a living!  Don't come up skiing this week!  Too windy and rainy, crazy weather this weekend...

  • Oh I understand! :-) I used to spend every Christmas and New Years' up in Truckee pre-Sarah, usually skiing 20 days in a row and so loved it. I really miss skiing, haven't been since I got pregnant.
