Adelot?

I have no idea if that is how to spell this name. MIL mentioned the other day that it is a family name, and wanted to know what I thought about it.

Honestly, I have no idea what to think about it...I had never heard of it before. I also can't find and information about it, probably because I have it spelled wrong.

She pronounced it "AD-uh-lot." I am inclined not to like it because it kind of sounds like part of a sentence..."I think this name might add a lot of drama to our lives..."

Has anyone heard of this?

I've never heard it and I don't think I could use it even if it's a family name. I think I would avoid talking names with my MIL if she was suggesting things like this!

I'd consider it for a middle, given it's a family name. But I wouldn't use it for a first.

Yep...I try to avoid talking pretty much anything baby with MIL...we just don't see eye to eye on almost anything. I can't wait until she finds out we are going to use cloth diapers...won't that be a fun scene. She already gave me the side eye for going with a midwife.

She suggested this name after she asked what we were thinking about names, and I mentioned that we will probably go with Adelaide. She seemed to think Adelot was a good substitute.

I don't like this name at all, actually. I was just wondering if any of you name-knowledgeable ladies had ever heard of it/had any info on it.

This is exactly what I thought...maybe she was pronouncing it wrong, maybe the T is silent, still doesn't make for a very good name...
