We have a list of names I like, but nothing I LOVE. We can't seem to find a name that feels right. We gravitate towards the somewhat unique, but not weird, classic and old-fashioned. DH is pushing for Henry, which I like, but I am afraid it is too popular right now.
Also on the list are:
Louis
Hugo
Calvin
Walter
Cash (I think too hipster for us)
Theo
Would love to hear other ideas. DD is Norah. Middle name will be my last name, which is a unique last name (6 letters) that starts with a G. Last name is a ridiculously long Dutch name that starts with a V.
TIA.
Re: Hitting a wall re: boy's name
Love Calvin,
What about Corbin, Cormac, Grant?
(okay so I just copied my list from the fav boys names post)I like Louis and Walter.
What about Philip or Peter ? underused classics. I also like Leo, Frederick, and Edmund.
I like Henry, too. It may be popular, but it doesn't sound trendy because it has never fallen out of the top 150.

I know it sounds silly, but you said you like unique...why not name him Dutch (it's an old fashion name)! But if that's just too ridiculous for you, go with some clasic older names like Warren, Orville, Clifton, Fletcher, Conrad or Everett...just throwing out some suggestions. GOOD LUCK!!!! And Congrats!!!
Love Hugo! Cash is one of my guilty pleasure names (along with Rocco).
Other suggestions:
Milo
Jude
Felix
Silas
Simon
Graham
Hudson
Finn
Clarke
Calvin
How about Charles? You mentioned Cash, which is one (of many) nicknames for Charles.
I actually really like Hugo as well.
How about Roscoe, Carson, Caleb, Levi, Milo, Miles, Oliver?
Louis - I like this name despite the bad, personal connotation. I think it's definitely underused. It rarely comes up here, so it gets awesome points for being familiar, but rarer for this generation of namers.
Hugo - I've seen this pop up only a handful of times, and I just can't get behind it....maybe it's because of LOST or maybe I think of a way to tease a fat kid - 'hey huge - O'. I see the appeal, but it's not for me.
Calvin - I adore this name and here's why: it's familiar, easy to spell, has three different namesakes: Calvin Coolidge, Calvin Klein and Calvin and Hobbes. It has a a great nick name, Cal or is awesome as a full name. It has a vivacious V in there which makes it interesting and it's slowly on it's way out of the lower 200s. The only downside is the meaning, but if that doesn't bother you, then I'd keep it high on the list.
Walter - excellent, underused and classic boys name. My favorite of Anne's children in the Rainbow Valley series.
Cash - ugh, this one bothers me. It sounds like some greedy, American name trying to pass off for a cool, Johnny Cash fan. And lets face it, how many of us really paid attention to his music before the movie came out?
Theo - I like it, it's simple and sweet. My only concern is that I like looking at it more than I like saying it...I sound lispy when I say it aloud.
Hope this helps! My favorites are Calvin, Louis and Walter.
