DS hasn't pooped since Tuesday

And that's not normal for him. He sometimes will go 1 day but never this long. You can see its bothering him. Any time he gets gas pains it really upsets him. I've been giving him mylicon to help with the gas but I think he just needs to poop. Any suggestions?

3 day call the doctor rule. You could try water, but I'd check with the pedi first. GL!

Massage his tummy. Use two fingers and rub clockwise around his bellybutton for several min. You know you are applying enough pressure if his skin is white while doing this and quickly returns to normal as you move around the belly button. (Learned in Infant Massage 5 yrs ago and it never fails) Or you can try Corn Syrp in a bottle this works great as well.

yeah I would call the pedi and see if you can give him some water to get things moving, DD didnt poop for a day and a half and then I gave her some water and explosion of poop! GL

My son goes every other day. He goes on the third day sometimes. If I am really worried, I will put Karo syrup on my pinkie and let him have it. Sometimes that gets things moving. Also, my pedi nurse said to do 1 oz of pear or prune juice. But if he does not go today, call the dr. this afternoon. Watch for a swollen or tender tummy. Good luck.

My DS went from a few times everyday to every other day. Usually a blow out too. They say it is common for BM babies to skip days, but never go longer than 3 days.

The NICU nurses told my husband to gently rub the anus with your finger for a few minutes. We usually do this at bath time, works every time!

My LO has problems & she said to start putting anywhere from 1tspn to 1 tbspn of dark corn syrup in his bottles. It worked once, then the other times he just threw it up so I'm not doing it anymore. We go in for his 2 month check up/shots today so I'm going to see if she has any other suggestions. I've done the tummy rub but it doesn't seem to work.
