I am really struggling with TTC AND trying to lose the baby weight from DD. On one hand, we can't really wait for me to lose 30 lbs (I am 37 and DH is 47) and on the other hand, I am nervous about gaining weight and then having even more than 30 lbs to lose the next time around.....
Does anyone else worry about this?

LOL....well, I'm not really trying to lose the weight right now! I just get depressed and overwhelmed with the thought of starting and drown my sorrows in pizza and ice cream!
But I've struggled with my weight since I was a kid so I've done every diet out there....but I also know it just takes watching what you eat and exercising.... I KNOW this...I just have a hard time executing it. LOL And then I have friends who tell me not to bother losing the weight before #2....just deal with it after, but I feel so gross right now, I just can't do that. And I'd like to actually enjoy my pg and not be totally obsessed with all the weight gain.
I know you're right though.....I just need to start chipping away at it now while we're TTC and let the chips fall where they may. I'm just having a pity party right now!
I have had weight to lose. I was about 30lbs heavier than I prefer. I only have about 10 to go. In September when we decided that we are fast-tracking our efforts with medical intervention I put myself on the PCOS diet even though I have not been diagnosed. My thought process was that if it is suggested for women who have PCOS and are TTC then it shouldn't be bad for other women TTC. My Dr. also said that losing at least10% of your body weight could help anyone's efforts TTC, (provided that doesn't take you into an "underweight" BMI. Also I have some symptoms of PCOS but my Dr. didn't diagnose me with it, so I could actually be borderline. It basically is a high protien, no sugar, low glycemic index food sort of diet encouraging full-fat dairy. I have lost about 20 lbs since September and do not do too much exercising.
I totally get where you are coming from with how you feel yucky. Making this change was not to hard for me because I am in the mindset of being "all-in" with doing everything we can to conceive. It has put me in a better mood for sure and has helped me feel a little less depressed about everything going on. I think that it has made me less of a monster on Clomid too. If I do conceive I intend to continue this eating plan and my Dr. has blessed the idea especially since gestational diabetes is so common and this type of diet would help protect against it.
Best of luck to you guys!
Sarah
I have been hanging out at 10 pounds heavier than my prepg weight with DS since 3 weeks after giving birth to DS, so almost 2 years! And that prepg weight was about 15 pounds higher than my ideal thinnest weight. So 25 over ideal, but I'd be very happy with 20 and could live with 10 as a decent start.
Today I just got the blow that I have 2 cycles to sit out. So instead of drinking heavily, I'm thinking maybe a better reaction would be to go all-in to lose weight for these 2 months. I've done South Beach diet before, 5-6 years ago, and lost 20 pounds, and I was avoiding doing phase 1 while TTC, so maybe this is the time.
My issue is not in the regular foods I eat, in that I generally go for whole grains, whole foods in general, and eat "clean." However, I do have a ridiculous sweet tooth and don't eat quite enough veggies (tho I do eat a lot) and I think the only way to go past that is going to be to go full force on SBD for 2 weeks. We have 2 more weeks at home where we can prepare healthy food before going to spend a week in my family's midwestern unhealthy foods all the time land, and if I'm doing well and on phase 2, I think I can deal if my sister is in on it, and then regroup after the new year.
I had to take a couple of weeks off of running for a big work project, and re-started yesterday and re-strained a hip/upper pelvis muscle that only gets hurt when I run and am at my current weight. So I need to sit out of running a week or two to let this heal, maybe I'll start back on some yoga if I get really motivated.
I think I need to think of this as honoring the spirit baby that I hope to have come join our family and that might keep me motivated (sounds better than not wanting to keep lounging around the house in maternity yoga pants....)
Thanks for the forum to write all of this out, OP!

I have to agree!!! When I at first lost alot of weight (60 # 7 yrs ago) I started on the elliptical & then switched to running once I lost some poundage & ran all the time, I loved running.... Unfortunatly I have to start w/ the Elliptical all over again.
I do appreciate that, you guys. Though right now, that would require me joining a gym! I have this very annoying personal exercise preference to prefer to feel like I'm doing a sport and not "going to exercise/workout/etc." So I run, bike, play ice hockey (not since pg with DS,though, but regularly for 10 years before that), do yoga. I know, it's weird. The last time I was a member of a gym, it was just to use the pool back when I used to do triathlons regularly. There is a tiny satellite version of a gym at a park near me and I was thinking of joining for the pool, and I think they have a small room that might have an elliptical. I just hate paying monthly fees to gyms, I should look into a dropin fee. I am a total weirdo, I know.
