I totally dont think any of that matters. My husband and I had sex on the day of ovulation doggy style and its a girl! Our third! Thats so funny how men tease and taunt each other about going hard and deep to get a girl or a boy. All the men my husband works with have boys and fed him the same crap about him not being man enough to have a boy. Or how he didnt go deep enough and next time they can push his butt to make sure he goes deep enough! um, no. I really think the sex of your child is a crap shoot.
Yes, this method does seem to work. My mother told me about this and said if you want a girl try to get pregnant as early as you can around ovulation as possible. This worked for her 6 times. Yes that is 6, I have 5 sisters and 2 brothers. So that is better than a 50/50 chance! I also wanted a girl and did the same thing and we just found out this week we are having a little girl!!! So try it, it may work for you too! Also, they say if you eat a lot of cereal with milk that is a more likely chance of a boy. Now that one is a little crazy for me, but it has something to do with what is in it that produces more testosterone. Best of luck!!!
I followed the Shettles method instructions on Webmd. I did everything it said for a girl and Im due 10/23 with a girl. Whether or not that method had anything to do with it.......who knows. DH really wanted a boy so maybe next time we'll try the boy method and see what happens!
There is a website called ingender.com that covers all sorts of info on gender swaying. I have 2 boys, and we "slighty" tried swaying for this pregnancy (not sure what it is yet!)....there is a ton of info and it's all science-backed. They claim that you can increase your odds but it's never 100% guaranteed. Good luck!
I think that the only thing that you can do is cross you fingers and hope for the best. But no matter the outcome, I promise, once that little one is in your arms, you will love it, not matter the gender.
That's only the abstract, but I'm pretty sure it's the same study that I was able to find the full text of free somewhere online.
Basically, it says that women with shorter follicular phases (those who ovulate earlier in their cycles) are more likely to have boys and those who ovulate later are more likely to have girls. Now, obviously, we all know that the sperm determines the gender, but this indicates that there is SOMETHING about the woman that might have some impact. I don't know what... perhaps eggs that are released earlier are "friendlier" in some way to male sperm.
PS-- we're talking about a very small difference in percentage. Nothing as big as even 60/40.
I read Dr. Shettles method and did LOADS of research online, seriously there is lots of information on how to determine the sex of your baby. I am definitely a researcher and after I researched a bunch I found that really there is only a few key things that need to be done to determine a boy. (also doing your own research and concluding this info might ease your mind as well). Know your Ovulation date, rear position, orgasm during, make husband drink caffeine before sex, make sure he keeps his area cool for better sperm count. There are other things too I've read, I also had caffeine because I read that if you want a girl to have caffeine before hand, so because I want a boy I had some too.
Also there is true to the ph balance in a woman, for a boy you need a more alkaline environment, for a girl a more acidic environment. There are diets you can go on to prepare yourself for this. With boys you need more potassium and sodium in your diet. I tried eating a banana a day before I got pregnant. ? who knows! lol
I don't know what I'm having yet, not for another 2 months. But you are not alone! Some ppl I tell about my plan of trying for a certain sex laugh at me, and it's very frustrating. And you want to know why it won't be a real 50/50 shot for me? Because my Mom had 3 girls, my husband has 3 sisters and I have two daughters. So I'm pretty sure if we have a boy, it's because we followed these methods. And yes I do believe in God and his choice in the matter, I have prayed for a healthy baby. It doesn't matter to me which it is. I just promised myself that since this is my first Planned pregnancy that I wanted to do research and try for a certain sex. Since I know I can have girls, I wanted to try for a boy. As long as the baby is healthy, I'll be happy
What? I am throughly confused as what siblings your DH has or what kinds of babies your mom had has to do with you conceiving a boy this time. What does it matter that your mom or MIL had girls?
OP-I am kind of surprised so many people on this thread have actually tried the Shettles method. But honestly, if you anecdotally ask people who have used it, OF COURSE some of them are going to tell you it worked. After all, it was 50/50 anyway. It doesn't mean it worked,. Personally, I explained Shettles to my DH , and we both think it sounds like a bunch of BS.
I thought it was weird that TCOYF even had a a chapter on it.

I highly recommend reading this book. If you follow the steps and the proper timing, it will work. Good luck!

I thought this was an interesting study:

Use this calendar to tell what month to get pregnant to pick your baby gender before your little bundle of joy is even conceived.

I know it sounds nuts, but it's right every time. :-)
