Babies: 0 - 3 Months

activities (0-2 months)

Just curious...what activities do you do with your 0-2 month old? Right now I sing to and read to my baby. We're also working on tummy time. Sometimes I pump his legs in a circular motion, like he's riding a bike. I plan to set up his play mat/gym soon. I'm looking for more ideas, so please share!!

  • we play on the play mat, and have tummy time there...and we do arm and leg exercises.  we also bounce around the house.  otherwise, she is in her bouncy seat or swing cooing and grunting.  not sure what other things to do with a baby that young.

  • I talk to her a lot.  Often it is just saying what I am doing like, "now let's put your arm in your sleeve" when I dress her.  Also, she has a play gym and a tummy time mat that she likes.   Don't stress about not doing much with her.  She just needs to be held and talked to.  She will let you know when she is ready for more.  My LO is 10 weeks and has limited interests.  I think she would be happy staring at the ceiling fan all day!Smile

  • My baby is 9 weeks old today. He doesn't like tummy time flat on the floor. He prefers it laying on my chest on an incline (not flat) and he also likes it on the boppy. I prop his elbows up on the boppy and he holds his head up and looks around.

I've also tried to have him use his entertainment mat. He doesn't like to lay flat on the ground on his back, so I put the boppy on the floor and put him in it under all the lights and toys.

I read and sing to him also. I think he really enjoys it. I LOVE to put him either in his crib or on the changing table and just talk to him. He's happiest there. Smiles, coos, and starting yesterday he laughs! Good luck!

  • DD is just starting to have awake time and when she is awake we talk to her. We also do tummy time and we put her in her bouncer and she likes looking at the toy bar and hitting the stuffed winnie the pooh on the toy bar (though I don't think she intends to yet). Other than that she just sleeps.

  • Thanks for asking, OP, I was wondering the same thing as LO is just now starting to have alert times.

I talk to him, play with rattles, put him on his Boppy so he can look around, walk him around the house, sing to him (Queen's "Bicycle" while pumping his legs was a big hit yesterday).

He also loves his swing that was a mobile and lights (FP's Cradle n Swing).
