I have an ergo carrier, but not the infant insert. I'm thinking of getting a sling for my 6 week old. She is about 10.5lbs and pretty tall (over 22" maybe?). I am looking at a ring sling, not the moby. Maya website has used ones for $39.
I have a sling that my husband bought at bru for $30 and it's really tight on me, feels like it's squishing the baby. It may have something to do with my size (16).
I also looked at moby wrap, but I kind of like the ring sling better. Are there any other slings I should look at? Does the ring sling hurt the back at all?
Re: Slings - help!
Maybe look at the K'Tan it is kind of a cross btwn a sling and the moby, I think. I don't have one but have been thinking about it...
Otherwise, I have not had luck with slings. I have had trouble feeling comfortable/getting a good fit. Hotslings has some that are adjustable.

I use both the moby and the ring sling. LOVE them both.
I also found that the ring sling is better to use when out and about. cause with the moby you have a lot of fabric to use, and wrap. the sling I throw it over pop DS in, and off we go! And it fits in the diaper bag a lot easier.
I use the moby for around the house, and when it gets warmer (if it ever gets warmer) I'll use it for walks.
Oh also if you BF and NIP the ring sling is so easy to use while nursing! and plus out and about you still have your hands free!
I mainly need it to wear around the house to do household chores. I read that moby takes a while to put on and the ring sling is much faster. Also, the moby wrap is only good for babies up to 15lbs or so and ring sling can be used for longer time. is that true?
Unfortunately, I'm not really breast feeding b/c my milk never came in, so nursing in public isn't really a concern.

I am ordering one of these but I also have a Dr. Sears Baby Balboa sling, an organic Ergo and a MOby.
ETA: I think that as long as you order one that is your size, you are golden. The Moby doesn't take long to put on at all, once you figure it out. The instructions in the booklet can be confusing, so go t YouTube for that (if you do end up with a Moby.) The slings don't hurt your back if you wear them correctly. Good luck!
I got one from Sevenslings.com
Its a regular ring sling and I like mine!
Also this week they were having a promotion for a free sling (just pay shipping... which is like $10-15)... it was HOLIDAYS. I don't know if its still on, but its worth a try!
they have a size chart and you measure yourself to find the right fit. plus they have a program where if its the wrong size you can return it free and trade for a larger/smaller one.
Hope that helps!
nope my LO is 15 lbs and my nephew is almost 20 and my SIL still uses hers and our LO s LOVE them...
I have one of these and love it though with the sizes I ignored their suggested sizing and based it on everything else and DD fits snugly in it but it isn't too tight on her.
The free one is NOT a ring sling. It's just a piece of fabric. From my experience, the sizing on them is WAY off as well. I measured and ordered my correct size and it was so small I could barely put it on myself, let alone fit the baby in there. Go with the Maya. I have one and wouldn't trade it for the world.
