oh please. this board is beyond nice.
for people to be annoyed, joke about it, or say something, it has to be really irritating.
I'm disappointed in people who overuse punctuation and expect thanks for being dumb.
It's funny to me that you were okay with slamming people from Carmel for being snobs or whatever a few weeks ago, but making fun of someone abusing punctuation? OVER THE LINE!!!!!!!!! VERY DISAPPOINTING.
Get over yourself.
I haven't the faintest idea what is happening in particular right now, but I've been around here for a lonnnnnnnng time, and accusing this board of being anything other than supportive and friendly and nice and welcoming and puppies and rainbows is ludicrous.

So you have to be mean for it to annoy people or be talked about? Huh, I was unaware of that rule.
It was bizarre, and people will talk about that - probably more than they would talk about someone being mean, actually. And probably laugh. I wasn't even at the gtg, and I thought it was funny. I'm thankful they brought it back here because I was wondering if I was just being easily annoyed.
SO THANK YOU GTGers. MommaMcG is disappointed, but I'm thankful. Hopefully you can all sleep at night now.
What was bizarre? I'm really confused and if it involves me for whatever reason I would kinda like to know. I really enjoy going on this board to get other ideas on what/how to take care of my child since I'm a new mom but I'm really confused about all of this kind of talk!
It was bizarre because the post turned weirdly defensive and you were like, you didn't even thank me!!!!
Read Denice's post again if you want to know why it was bizarre - it's a good example. I'm not bored enough to dig up the post and spell out why it was weird.
If it's in regards to the crib post I was just trying to help out - period. And yes I already know that I use !!!!! alot.....I do that in text messages as well and emails - all my friends and coworkers already know this about me and they dont seem to mind.
WTF? Unless I'm totally off base here, Maureen's post to me about the crib has nothing to do with anything in this discussion. I actually told Maureen I appreciated her thinking of me. I never insinuated at all that she is mean. I actually think Maureen is very nice.
A little harmless teasing about the complete over-use of punctuation has gotten completely carried away.
I get that you were just trying to help out - I don't think anyone has implied otherwise. All I'm saying is that the post ended up bizarrely and that's why people probably talked about it (if they even did - that's an assumption on my part and MommaMcG's since she brought it up and neither of us were at the GTG).
From what I can gather, it seems to me that a poster (of whom I don't know, maybe me for all I know) is being made fun of.
Am I 'disappointed'? No, because I don't know any of you, but I do think it's childish. I hope whoever it is doesn't get their feelings hurt.
Maybe if this poster was included in on the joke, it would be a different story, but I don't think that was the case. If people had a problem with how she was posting, why couldn't they just say something to her instead of creating an inside joke about it?
I'm fine Kathy...but I do think the post was about making fun of me for getting defensive in the crib post and for saying that I was mad for not being thanked. I'm fine with being made fun of for using !!!!!! .....all my friends know I use it in text messages and emails constantly. Cant help it that I just get that excited!!! haha.
Like you said I wish someone would have just said something instead of making an "inside" joke about it. Oh well.
Ok I really wasn't going to get involved in this but I don't think it was about the dumb crib post. I think it's just annoying to read a post and have a bunch of "?!?!??!" after each sentence. Especially if some of the sentences aren't even questions. I also wasn't at the GTG but I think in general, it is annoying.
Also to me it just seemed to be harmless teasing (although I felt bad so I didn't want to contribute), but I don't think it's something for anyone to get their panties in a bunch over.

It was about the crib post. Everyone made a point of exaggerating their "thank you"s yesterday, and that was totally because she didn't feel properly thanked to begin with in her crib post. I'm really not trying to start a fight. I just thought it was a childish post yesterday. It's really not cool or nice to make fun of someone behind their back. And I was "disappointed" because I didn't think that crap existed on this board. And I've met many of you ladies IRL, and I didn't think you'd do that on this board. That is all.
Wow, really? It started as a JOKE. I mentioned how we had a rivalry in high school and didn't like them because they were so good. It's like Colts fans not liking the Patriots.

I don't deny that the post yesterday was childish. Childish, yet very amusing. I'm okay with that.
I went to Carmel. But, it really didn't bother me what she said. I mean I figured there was some truth to it - but that she was hopefully, partially teasing in good fun. I hoped, although wasn't completely sure. But regardless, I brushed it off.
Being who I am, the person who typically doesn't let things like that (teasing) bother me, would have assumed some of the other things going on also would be seen in fun.
Then again, I'm not one to get in a tizzy about things.
I'm really confused as to why we're even talking about this. We all tease each other.

Not every post has to be a question. This board is a place to vent and that's what I do alot of the time. Sorry for adding so many ?!?!?!? - that's just me. And why couldnt anyone just say nicely you dont have to use so many ?!?!?!
You just said you already knew you use a lot of punctuation a few posts up. You chose to do that, and so we chose to tease you a little

I agree that childish can sometimes be fun, and even okay sometimes.
And if the target of a teasing is in on the joke, doesn't that defeat the purpose? Just sayin'.
When you get a large community of women together, there are bound to be things that annoy others. Every single one of us on the board has something that deserves the side-eye (except Jac, I think).
There are just some things that are seriously so freaking annoying and deserve to be brought up publicly.

It started as a joke when I made the comment about my state rings, but then you retorted with your "we hated Carmel because of their attitude." When I called you out, you stuck to your guns about it and were NOT kidding. And it wasn't about us being good, it was about us having attitudes or being snobs or whatever it was you said about it. (Sorry I don't remember the exact quote.)
Also, on another note... IT'S THE INTERNET. You are taking stuff waaaaaaay too seriously if you're disappointed in the board for making fun of someone "behind their back." <-- Which is pretty impossible on public internet, BTW.

I totally agree with your first point. Teasing can be fun and I feel like the teasing was harmless. Obvs, Maureen is comfortable with who she is and is taking the punctuation teasing well. Kudos.
I disagree with not deserving the side-eye. For real, I find myself to be annoying and AWish from time-to-time so I know y'all have to as well. Not fishing, just being real.

Thanks Jac....I like to think that now that I'm 28 (bday was yesterday!) that I TRY to let things roll off my back. It's an everyday thing to have to tell myself that it's not worth it to be stressed about the little things!
