12/10 C-Section Birth Story PIP Heavy

Went into the OR at 646 am and he was born at 716 am, I was pretty nervous about the spinal but it wasnt bad at all, burns for a few seconds and then you go numb.  C-section went really quick and had no issues, (the actual sewing up part felt like it was way longer than getting him out) was going into recovery at 746 and then into my room around 9.  My little man weighed 7lbs 8oz 20.5 inches long and he is perfect and has been such an angel since!!!  He hardly ever cries, sleeps a lot, actually has to be woken up at night to eat :) and is pooping like a pro haha :) The nurses had me up and walking around noon that day just to go to the bathroom and show me how to do the peri cleaning, had the IV and catheter taken out the next morning and felt much better to be free, the healing process is up and down for me I have good times and some more painful times but if I keep up with the pain meds and dont try and do too much I am good.  FYI it really hurts when I try and do things I am not supposed to do so ladies dont do it!!!  Just take care of your wonderful babies and worry about the rest later!  We have been home since Monday and I cant take my eyes or hands off my baby, it is weird how much I love him and how attatched you are as soon as you hear that first cry!  I feel so extremely blessed to have a healthy beautiful baby boy!!!  Life is good :) Here is Nathan Walker W.

  • I am getting around pretty good, the incision def hurts and is very tender but if you keep up with the meds and really try to rely on your arms and legs, using my ab muscles is very painful you just have to find different ways of getting up.  Move slowly when getting up or sitting/laying down.  I am sleeping on the couch on an incline of pillows, can only lay on my back tried moving to the side and it was extremely painful!!!!  But just take things slowly and stay on meds and its not too bad, its all very worth it :)

And on a side note BFing is going really well, I was able to nurse in the recovery room and he had a great latch and has kept that up, milk has come in and it is a little painful but pumping helps a lot.  Take advantage of lactation consultants in the hospital they were so helpful and taught us a lot, we saw a different one each day and they all taught us something different and it has made things run so smoothly at home.
