Just a general question... if you don't breastfeed at all from the start, does your milk ever really "come in"? Last pregnancy i breastfed for the first 2 weeks before going to formula, but remember being so engorged as i was waiting for the milk to dry up. I am not sure if I will give breastfeeding a try this time around, but was curious if I don't attempt at all, will i still be engorged for a period of time?

Re: Question for those FF from the start
yes it does come in. it took about 2 weeks to come in after LO was born and was engorged for about 5 days, leaked for about a month.

I barely had any milk come in. I never felt a let down, my boobs were never engorged or hurting, and I leaked exactly twice and then it was only a few drops. When I pumped, I would get around 1 ounce a day.
So milk doesn't always come in.
Unable to even.

I'm on my 12th day PP and only had one day where my breasts felt hard. I kept sports bras on as soon as I realized I wasn't going to BF (I had some complications after birth.). When my chest hurt, I put ice packs on them. I never leaked and wore pads just in case I did. I am not sure if I was going to have issues with milk production, or if my milk didn't come in because I didn't use it.
Started leaking at 3 days PP (incidentally the first night I actually got to spend with my crying baby in the room - he was in special care since the first night)
Had one or two times where spots on my boobs would feel hard (never the whole boob) and used ice packs on those hard spots. Leaked until probably about 6 or 7 weeks pp.
