When are you finding out about the position of the placenta?? Some are anterior, some are more posterior. Is the doc telling you this, or are you finding out at the u/s? Also what does it mean if your placenta is more anterior vs posterior? Sorry, these are probably stupid questions but I'm a first time Mom. Thanks ladies!!
Re: Placenta Question
I haven't found out which I have yet, but I will be asking at our big u/s.
Anterior means that it is toward your front, near your belly button. Posterior means that it is toward your back.
Anterior placentas create more padding, and therefore moms who have them sometimes have to wait longer to feel the baby.
Other than that, I am not sure there is much of a difference. The main thing they look for with placenta placement is that it is not covering any part of your cervical opening, which would be placenta previa. HTH!
I have felt movement since 13 weeks. My OB said (at my 15 week appt) that I must have a posterior placenta..
But when I went for my elective u/s last Thursday to determine if we were having a boy/girl, the u/s tech told me it was anterior. I do know though what I have been feeling is movement. So it isn't impossible to feel it early even with an anterior placenta.
