Finally initiated into the mommy club

I got my stripes last night!

Eli woke up at 3:30 am, hungry. I get a bottle of breastmilk out of the fridge to heat up and end up knocking it off the counter onto the floor.... milk everywhere. I wanted to fall to my knees and shake my fists at the sky. Precious bm wasted...it was a full 4 oz!

Finally I feed him...all is right with the world. Then I smell a stinky diaper. So I say, after you finish eating, I'm going to change you. I reach down to grab his bottom and I come up with a hand full of shiit. Like an actual handful. It's all over my hand, my pants, his clothes, my bed....everywhere.

How in the hell did this happen???

So I feel defeated at this point, I continue to let us sit in shiit until he finishes eating and burp him. At that point I get us both undressed, rinse out our clothes and give him a sponge bath. I get him a new diaper, put on fresh new clothes and we're headed back to bed.

He then spits up all over himself. I just couldn't...I'm done and checked out...he is officially wearing just a diaper for the rest of the day.

  • Ugh I had a night just like this yesterday! I fed LO a bottle around 6ish and shortly after, he went to the bathroom. I gave him some time to finish, and then I changed him. It was a LOT, so I decide to get a washcloth and clean him instead of just wipes. As I'm cleaning his bottom, he goes again...a lot. I had to throw out the receiving blanket he sh!t all over (which would have been me, had I not covered him). So I manage to get that cleaned, and just as I'm about to put his diaper on, he pees everywhere. Long story short, I have a ton of laundry to do. This was all after not feeling well myself all day yesterday.

And here I thought my LO was a saint, and I was magically exempt from being peed/pooed on..... Confused

  • You guys are dumb. Who cares about a long night. Or even a long couple months? In the grand scheme of things, these lost nights of sleep are nothing. Nothing at all.

  • I somehow thought that I was exempt too. I would brag to people about  how good my baby is and how I have such easy evenings with him...lmao...he  showed me. I will now keep my mouth shut.

Only good thing was he kept smiling at me the whole time...I guess it took the edge off.

  •  Ha! I was just thinking this last night- about the "initiation." Sorry about your night.
Luckily, my LO only squirted his poop out about a foot during the diaper change, and it stayed on the changing table.
It is tiring, but I find it's best to just laugh about it ... laugh to keep from crying.

  • Oof, what a night. I've had nights like that, when we go through all the changing pad covers in the house for just one diaper change. I was so sure four covers would be enough. Silly, naive me.

Something that helps me when I'm in those situations is to talk to my daughter. I tell her about the day I found out I was pregnant with her, the day my water broke, the day I met her father. It puts me in a good mood and takes my mind off the destruction I'm cleaning up.

    Hang in there!

  • That sounds rough. I'm sorry! One night Sophie projectile pooped across the room. I had to change her, me, changing pad and my bedding. Oof.

That's so cute! I talk to DD too and tell her about our upcoming plans or tell her about her daddy. He works during the day and is having a hard time with being away from us so I want him to know that she knows him. I know that she doesn't know what I'm saying right now, but the tone of my voice calms her down and I think he likes to hear me talk about him. I've never told him I do it, I just hope he hears when I'm changing her or or something.

DH was the lucky one to be initiated first! I've taken care of lots of babies working in child care centers, but projectile poop was new to me!! Poor guy!
