Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Bad Day Vent

I hate my body now. I can barely even look at myself in the mirror without crying and I couldn't leave the house for our walk today I thought I looked so bad. I just got a new haircut I don't like and is difficult to style because the stylist didn't listen to me. I have like thirty pounds of baby weight that wont budge. I haven't lost 1 pound since 1 week pp and I ebf. My skin is a mess. I don't know what to do to help me feel better about myself. More exercise would be great, but I already walk 2-3 miles a day and DD is too young to run with and I don't have time/money to join a gym.

  • I'm a lurker but I wanted to tell you that you are not alone! My DS is almost 2 months and I ebf but I haven't lost much weight since 1 week pp. I'm sorry about your hair too. I've heard from some moms that the weight started melting off later so maybe give yourself a little more time. You are doing everything right, just try to be easy on yourself.

  • ((hugs)) Whenever I feel bad about myself I always give DS to SO and take a long bath with lotion too. It makes my feel better when I smell feminine. I also look at DS when I feel bad and just remember that it was all to get him.

  • I know this is just a vent, but I just want to tell you, you're not alone!

I feel disgusting and ugly and don't feel the LEAST bit attractive at all. My boobs are out of control, they have their own zip code, my stomach is all flabby and gross and I have these disgusting love handles, making my waist non-existent.

I really know where you're coming from. I'd love to get some exercise, but there's no time, and I EBF too :( I feel hungry all the time, and I end up eating all this crap which makes me feel even worse.

I guess we should just give ourselves time. The only productive thing my MIL has said to me and my husband was to stop and give me a year before I feel totally like myself again. I hope it won't take that long. I'm hoping I can look like my old self by summer, don't worry, as our LOs get bigger they won't need to be around us ALL the time, meaning we will have more time to ourselves to make ourselves pretty again :)

  • I can get that. The fat around my stomach used to be a little soft before I got pg, but now its even softer and does this jello jiggle thing. While I am down to the pre-pg weight, the stretch marks are horendous, and since I am dark skinned, its like little white zebra marks going from my hips to my ribcage. My face has these darker spots on it that I never had before, and my boobs are too big for my nice bras and I cant really afford to buy a whole stack of good supportive bras in the right size and I hate the few fugly cheap ones I got from walmart just so I could have some in the correct size. I still cant eat as much as I used to but I get hungry after an hour or so because I ate so little at meals. I cant afford the gym anymore and we cancelled our membership a few months ago, but now I am worried I will never get this tummy jiggle off and how can I take care of C when I am so oogey and fat? Ugh. You are so not the only one feeling like crap, I really hope things get better for all of us.

  • I know this is just a vent but you need to know that you are not alone!  I do not recognize my body and feel self conscious with DH (even though he tells me I look fine).  And I commend you for walking!  By the time my husband gets home from work, I have no energy for exercise.  Keep it up!!

Have you talked to your doctor about your concerns?  I am not a doctor but I just took a physical therapy course on pregnancy and postpartum.  I learned that many women have thyroid problems after giving birth.  (Symptoms can be difficulty losing weight, depression, constipation, which all sound like things we go through PP but last longer).  Just a thought...Good luck!!

  • Thanks Ladies. It's nice to know I am not alone. I know it is all worth it - my DD is so amazing!

Hopefully we will all feel like our old selves in the near future. Until then I'll just avoid mirrors ;)

  • I feel this way everytime I get undressed.  I thought I'd at least be able to wear my regular clothes by now.  I've lost all but 10lbs, but yet I'm 3 sizes bigger still.  The stretch marks are gross and all this loose flabby skin around my belly is disgusting.  My boobs are ginormous!  Oh - and my skin looks like I'm 15 again.  So you're not alone.  I've just decided this summer will be a modest 1 piece with a cover-up.

Oh - and I also EBF, so who ever said that makes you lose all the weight lied.
