Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Question about dates?

If you dont mind me asking but what date are you using for when you all lost your beautiful babies.  the day you found out, the day its heart stopped or the day you passed it or had you d&c?

I found out at 11 weeks my baby grew only to about 7 weeks.  So it was a missed MC.  Took meds and am having the MC now. so im just confused. Thanks

Re: Question about dates?

  • I've been wondering the same thing.  I found out at 10 weeks that my babies only grew to about 7.5 weeks.  I had a d&c a few days later.  Sorry for your loss.  Thanks for asking this question.  Hope someone has an answer for us both.

  • I am using the date I actually miscarried.  I was almost 10 weeks when I found out and the heart stopped beating about a week to a week and a half before.  I was in the ER on a Sunday night and passed the baby on Monday, so I am using Monday as the actual date since it it when it officially left me.
  • I have had 2 missed miscarriages.  Since I am not 100% sure when the babies' hearts stopped beating, I'm using the date I found out that there was no heartbeat.  For our first loss, the sac measured around 6w, but since it could have been developing slower, my calculations of 6w, might not actually have been when it stopped growing.  Same for my 2nd mm/c.  The baby was measuring small, and within 1w1d, it grew only 4 days worth.  I'm not sure if I lost it 4 days after seeing the hearbeat, or if those 4 days worth of growth happened in a week or so.  Does that make any sense?

Right now I have been using the date that we found out but I think I may change it to today since thats when my baby left me in the hospital early this morning. Thanks for replying. and im also very sorry for your losses.

Seems that they are eather using the date they found out or the day their baby left their body.  I have been using the date that we found out but I think we are going to start using the date that my baby left me which was early this morning the the emergency room.  Hope this helped you as well. and Sorry for your loss. :(

  • i am so sorry for your loss--but i've had the same question.  for certain things (like the certification, footprints paper and an ornament) i am using the date of the d & e, or the day he was removed from me.  but for everything else related i use the day we best can figure out he died (he had fetal hydropsy), which was 4 weeks ago today (11/14).  i really don't use the date we found out which was 11/17, b/c for some reason i just can't seem to look at that date--it almost hurts more to remember that day than the 14th.

just about the same thing happened to me accept how far along we were.  I was in the hospital sat morning with really bad contractions given a variety of meds and was released.  Given another script for 600 mgs of Misoprostol (TMI) and then bleed very heavily, like nothing ive ever seen before so about 11 last night I called the ER and they said to coe back in.  and again started the contractions again.  More meds and I eventually passed my little baby at about 2am then came home at about 6am this morning.

  • I have been using the day I 'passed' the baby/sac at home. I do not know exactly when the heart stopped beating. I found out a few days before I passed the baby that a m/c was impending, but I am using the date it actually happened. I don't think there is a right/wrong answer, just what feels right to you! I am so sorry for your loss.

  • Yeah I'm in the same boat, and just decided to use the date I found out there wasn't any development.  I was 9w6d when I was told that there was an empty gestational sac measuring 6w.  I *just now* passed the empty sac, I'm sure of it.  What a bloody mess.  UGH!  I hate this....sending prayers to everyone here, for healed bodies, healed hearts and happy marriages and future sticky babies!
