FFS People. Shower Vent.
I have never planned on having a shower being as this is my second. After I got comfortable, I started buying diapers, clothes, wipes, formula, pacis, bottles - literally stockpiling when I'd hit a sale. With the exception of a few things from my sister, I have bought it all and never thought twice about it. We have all the big things we need and as of right now, we're pretty set. Sure, my mom *misplaced* my breast pump, so I'll need a new one and I'd like a stroller that DD can ride on when the baby is born - so I registered EXPRESSLY for the discount and plan on buying both when I get my bonus.
Vent: Every one of my friends, every time I see them says "let me know when you're having your shower".. and every time I say, "I'm not having one - second baby and all that" and they say (typically).. "oh, you can still have one as this is a boy and all!". That's great - then plan one. Seriously people.. I'm not planning on one, but it seems like everyone else is planning for me to have one. Since my mother is not talking to her siblings and DH's mother isn't talking to her siblings.. and we're all long distance - it doesn't take a genius to figure out my family isn't going to do anything.
Real vent: So I went to a baby shower this afternoon for my co-worker and everyone was like.. let us know when yours is! So, I say I'm not planning on having one and someone had the nerve to call me out on having a registry. (and you were looking.. why???) I try to explain about the discount (seeing as the TWO things I have to buy are pretty pricey) and they're all like.. "right... you're just being sly.. we know you're hinting for someone to throw one"...
WTF ever. I'm annoyed. (and thank you for letting me vent!)

I told DH I would be embarassed if someone threw us a shower. I would be okay with a diaper shower I think, but I am having my second boy and DS is only 2, so it seems outrageous to have another real shower.
I'm sorry everyone is being so ridiculous to you!

Exactly this - if people want to give us diapers... more power to them.. but I would be full out embarrassed if I was thrown an all out shower.

This. I wouldn't mind what is called a sprinkling, where you get diapers and such but I am not expecting it. Even though this is my second and my family "forgot" about my shower when my cousin threw it and and only 4 ppl showed up. In their defense my cousin threw it at 4pm on a saturday.
