  I prefer Claire myself. It's also significantly more common, if that matters to you. Rank 53 for 2009 vs Clare at rank 718.

  I vote Claire. French is always more elegant! Also, Clare is the county in Ireland I was born in so it will always be a place name to me.

  I prefer the Claire spelling as well. But I disagree with the pronunciation of Clare being pronounced "klahr". Well, I guess my point is that Clara can be pronounced "Claire-uh" or "Clahr-uh." I know people who use both.
