We are working away on our registry and they sell gDiapers at BRU (and lots of other easily accessible places) since we want to go cloth we're thinking of registering for gdiapers gpants with cloth inserts, along with the tinyg's for newborn. When I looked at them they seemed SO thin... but we could always double up on the inserts...
We thought we could use the disposable inserts while traveling, babysitter, etc.
Any thoughts appreciated, my mind is constantly swimming with all the CD options and baby isn't even here yet! TIA!!

I LOVE our Gdiapers, but I made my own cloth inserts that are thicker. had heard bad things about the gcloth and they just seem thin. You can use alternate inserts.
Some people don't like the snap out liner, but I love that the cover stays fresh for days. Even if DS poops, it normally stays in the liner and I just snap that out and replace it with a new one.
We like them with the gcloth. Works well for us, especially for Natalie. For Dominic, they work just as well as the bum genius 4's and flip we have......but, for him - everything is hit and miss.
I would register for them, but also look into trying a couple of other types. The g's are our 'go to' diaper, but I like other kinds for other reasons.
btw: the tiny gpants worked awesome for Dominic when he was a newborn!!!
Thanks so much! I am mostly interested in the cloth inserts, so that's good that other liners can also be used or prefolds.
Hmm... I think I will leave it on the registry... and then when baby comes do a trial pack from Jillian's Drawers to see what else is out there and try more options when the baby gets too big for the tiny g's. The smalls could at least get me by if I don't love them.
The gdiapers starter pack seems like such a good deal... 12 tiny g's, 6 smalls, and 80 disposable liners... for $140 on diapers.com. I'll have to register for cloth liners separately since I want that to be our primary coverage...
In case you're looking for help on making some inserts, I found this tutorial and plan to make some inserts for my gdiapers.

The fleece that is talked about in the tutorial is all natural fibers (you would choose hemp, bamboo, or cotton) which will absorb the pee. The microfleece and suede cloth are polyester, so it doesn't absorb water and wicks it away (the same idea as wearing the Nike workout gear that is all man-made fibers). The other bonus of using a poly on top is that the poop falls off easier!
You want 4 layers of natural fibers (at least) and one layer on top of poly. Some people want all natural fibers and go with a cotton or bamboo velour as the top layer, but I tried it and it just didn't work as well as the poly.
The other option, if the don't want to make your own and the gcloth isn't absorbing enough, is to buy microfiber towels in the car wash section of Target/Costco/Walmart. You can fold them into 3rds and place them under the gcloth. I just started doing this when I know we are going out on errands for awhile and it really helps.
