Avery is originally a boy's name, but at this point, it's just not nice to give it to a boy. Too many girls have the name. It's VERY trendy for girls right now. It's not cool for a boy to have to share his name with so many girls his age.
It reminds me of Charlotte's Web, so I automatically think boy. I know a 7 month old boy named Avery and a 10 year old girl named Avery. I don't like it either way, actually.

this. there are so many girls named that now. And I've always loved it for a boy, so I'm disappointed.
I like it for both a boy and a girl. However, my immediate association with the name is the Avery character in Charlotte's Web. I think it is best as a boys name, but I have no problem with people using it as a girls name, too. I think it sounds nice for either.

I like it for both a boy and a girl as well, but I agree with a PP and I think its becoming more popular for a girl!
