  • It was never a worry of mine I mean look at everything that comes out of you poop isn't a biggie.I pushed for maybe 10 minutes and never pooped in the end. I did leak amniotic fluid consistently for 16 hours though and it was all over the room, my socks and my legs and dh had to wipe me down a few times.

I thought I did, but according to my H, I didn't. I did puke for the whole labor, however.

I puked throughout labor too. It was awful!

The worst part is this: halfway through my labor my nurse dumped the entire bucket of vom on my head by accident when she was trying to get to me in time. She tripped and it went all over me.

THAT is horrific!  Did it make you vomit some more?  It would have made me.

I pooped.  And DH said that was the most disgusting part of the whole process because it smelled awful.  Luckily, I can't smell, otherwise I probably would have vomitted some more!

  • No poop here! Actually, I made it a point to make a big sha-doopie when I got to the hospital so I wouldn't have to worry about it! My doctor and husband thought it was funny that I didn't fear childbirth...but feared pooping on the table.
  • I swear I did.  I even asked the nurse about it afterward and she said that she didn't remember.  I think that was her kind way of not publically acknowledging it.  At that point I didn't care, as long as a baby came out.  I thought I would have been much more concerened about it, but in the end it really didn't matter.

  • I was petrified of pooping on the table, and told my DH I didn't want to know if I did. Fast forward to labor day and as I found out I was at 10cm I was convinced I was having diarrhea. I asked DH to check and after asking my quite a few times if I wanted to really know, he checked under the sheet, and promised me that I had not. I didn't believe him. So when the nurse told me to get ready to push I asked her if I'd pooped and she said no, that I must have just been feeling the baby descending (because up until then he was pretty high up still). Makes so much sense, but I was so sure that I was pooping. I guess that's what labor does to your mind, lol.

    This exactly.

  • Haha! So much. I was there for 3 days before having DS, so....yeah. I was a good pusher. :)

I was petrified of it beforehand, but when it was 'go time' I couldn't have cared less.

  • Nope. I never got a chance to push.  After 25 hours of labor I never made it past 8cm and DS never made it past 0 station.  I had an infection and then my fever spiked up and his heartrate started to drop so I had an emergency CS.

I was SO afraid of pooping during labor though.

  • I didn't but I sure was afraid that I might. Indifferent

  • I never understood the paranoia around pooping during labor. The vast majority of people do it. Its NBD.

I was more worried about puking (which I didn't do) simply because I hate the horrible taste. But with pooping, it doesn't really do anything to you.

I think for me, it was more like I really didn't want to poop on the table because when I pictured delivering my baby, it just didn't include squeezing out a big poo in the process.  It just didn't seem to fit with the "miracle of birth".

child birth is disgusting (IMO). Not a very pretty process :D I felt dirty/gross basically the whole time. Leaking amniotic fluid will do that to you.

I agree it's not a very pretty process overall- After I had DS, the nurse asked if we wanted family to come in one by one or if she should just "open the flood gates".  I knew it was my parents, DH's mom, and our brothers with their wives so I just figured, let everyone in.  I guess I wasn't thinking about the fact that I was still sitting in blood, bleeding all over the towel between my legs, looked like a complete mess, and had some "goo" on me from when they brought the baby to me.  One of my SIL's snapped tons of pics of me and then posted them on FB!!  B!tch!!

  • No I did not... but I worried about it NON STOP the whole labor.. and the whole time I pushed.. everyone said I wouldn't even  be thinking about that... yea, right.. I totally did. But I didn't do it! Thank God.. my H is the reason I had a freakin' complex about it... all his comments.. I was terrified of it man

I did not but that is because (and this is TMI but come on, the topic of the thread warrants it!) I think I evacuated my entire intestines during the time I was having contractions at home before we went to the hospital!

this exactly for me too. my water broke, and then my colon basically did too.
