Babies: 6 - 9 Months

I saw this on 3rd tri and...

they were talking about pooping during labor....so tell me, did you? Besides being worried about having a c-section (which I didn't), I was deathly afraid of pooping! Thankfully, I did not. My dr. is a hottie so it would have made it even worse lol.

  • Nope!  I was nervous about this too.  Turns out I was in labor long enough that I had gone early on and hadn't eaten anything for so long that I pretty  much didn't have anything in my system.  It felt like I did, though!!!

  • Haha, I wasn't worried about it, I knew there was a good chance I could, and if you do it's actually a good sign about you pushing correctly, and while it grossed me out and I hoped I wouldn't I wasn't scared.  (I also didn't have a hottie for a dr though haha)  I went into labor earlllly in the morning on Thursday though (around 6 am things started happening.)  I had horrendous back labor so I was NOT a happy camper. I didn't eat at all that day, and I didn't eat much the night before.  So I had nothing in me really, therefore no poop! :)  My DH kept making jokes about it because he knew it was likely too (at our birthing class the instructor said what I said above if you do, it's a sign of doing things correctly) so he was expecting it and he's such a typical boy at times.  One of the first things he said to me after we had our intimate first family moments was "you did really good honey...and you didn't even poop!" :oP  Men! haha

btw your daughter is so cute, I just want to squish her!

  • I was nervous about it also but apparently I did and I didn't even know it. I had an epidural so I didn't know and the nurse was nice enough not to "announce" it. haha
All of my life I have been waiting for all you give to me You
  • DH swears I didn't but only him and the nurse know

  • I did not but that is because (and this is TMI but come on, the topic of the thread warrants it!) I think I evacuated my entire intestines during the time I was having contractions at home before we went to the hospital!
    no
  • I am honestly not sure if I did or not. But, while we were waiting on the dr, the nurse kept telling me I was "pushing the right way" so maybe I did and just didn't know it.

Funny you say this because I thought I was constipated and used a suppository! It turned out to be contractions lol

  • I wasn't really worried about it but still told DH not to tell me if he saw poop... then of course I did ask and he said he saw something in the begining but he wasn't sure if it was fluid/mucus or poop
  • By the time I was pushing I didn't care.  I crapped all over that table.  I had been strapped to a bed for 36 hrs so it had been building up

  • Haha, I stopped worrying about it a few months before I went into labor.  I don't think I did.  But the baby sure pooped ALL over me right when she popped out and was put onto my chest.   lol

  • This post has actually gotten me thinking about next time- I had told my SIL (we're very close, more like actual sisters) that she could be in the room next time.  She had c-sections with her kids and feels like she really missed out by not having a vaginal delivery.  She said she'd love to see the birth of a baby and I said she was welcome now that DH and I have experienced it together once.  I hadn't really thought about her seeing me poop, though!! Embarrassed

Oh well- I guess I need to be prepared for her to see a lot of me anyway!!!

  • If I did poop, the nurse did a good job of hiding it from me!
  • I really didn't worry about it when I was pregnant becasue to me it was like if it happnes, it happens.  In the end I did end up pooping.  I didnt even know til DH told me!  I was then embarrsed and asked him if he was grossed out and he then informed me it wasn't that big and he understood why it happened so I should not worry.

  • I didn't, but I was so freaked out about the possibility that I pushed the wrong way at first and busted blood vessels in my eyes. If I could do it again, I'd rather poop where no one could see but the nurse than have bloody eyes for weeks!

Oh, and the best part.  I made one of the doctors gag.  Multiple times.

  • yep

tmi alert: I hadn't pooped in two days before going into the hospital....and then I was in labor for 2 more days. So I'm fairly sure it was impressive.

  • I don't know if I did or not and neither does DH since he was at my head.

  • H was at my head but still saw it. He said it was like a trainwreck...he just couldn't look away, lol. He was however impressed with how subtlely the nurse and OB handled it.
  • I have absolutely no idea.  I never even thought about it until right now.  LOL!  I was way more concerned about getting that baby out.  :P

This exactly. I pushed for two hours and pooped once. I think that's pretty good!

  • I didn't, but I also ended up with a c-section.  After experiencing labor and a c-section, I think I would rather poop and have a vaginal delivery than get cut open.

Funny - but terrible - story, though.  My mom told me about when she had my sister and I guess they weren't as quiet about it then as they are now.  While she was pushing one of the nurses yelled "What is that SMELL?" Another nurse hollered "We got a pooper!"

    That would be so horrifying.

The worst part is this: halfway through my labor my nurse dumped the entire bucket of vom on my head by accident when she was trying to get to me in time. She tripped and it went all over me.

  • i didn't. but my whole labor was only three hours and i pushed for 20 minutes so i don't think there was much time for anything to build up. gross, but i guess this whole thread is :)
