I have a newly 1 year old( last week) and I feel its now time for him to go to his crib. I need advice on how to approach this. I tried a few months back and he screamed for over 1hour then i couldnt take it any more. Would you stay in the room. How long would you let them cry for. I know that the longer i wait the harder it gets
Re: Transition from cosleeping to sleeping in crib
We transitioned around 15 months to a floor bed - which worked 1000x better than our attempts at a crib. I wrote about how we did it here - https://www.becomingmamas.com/little-kid-big-bed/ - if you want details. I'd say it was also easier because he was a bit older and could better understand what was happening.
I'm not a CIO fan. The No Cry Sleep Solution has some tips for transitioning without CIO that might be helpful to you. Remember it's a big transition for him to switch beds; I wouldn't expect him to immediately go to sleep on his own on top of that.
