Success after IF

Bloat this early??

I swear, I get up in the morning and my clothes fit and by 2pm, they are tight and I have to unbuttom my pants. Isn't it a little early for this?

I'm also constantly hungry. If I don't eat every 2 hours, my stomach hurts.

I mean, my baby is the size of a poppyseed people! I feel like it's a little early for this - but if it keeps reminding me I'm knocked up - I'll take it!

Re: Bloat this early??

  • I think the IVF process makes the bloating even worse.  After the eggs are retrieved the follicles fill with fluid.

I was definitely bloated that early, and even now, as evening approaches I just get bigger and bigger.  So far I haven't had to unbutton my pants, but my lowrise jeans are getting pushed further and further down!

The bloat is a definite reminder that I'll take!

  • I was bloated the second I got my bfp.. even before from the IVF. It only got worse from the PIO shots. I was in maternity clothes pretty much asap cuz my belly was so big.

Once I stopped pio at 10 w it got better, but then the baby belly came :)

and I was starved my whole first tri and now apparently the last tri!  Sorry about it but yes I ate about 12 times a day until 14 weeks.

Married on 3.20.2004. It took 30 month, 2 failed adoptions and IVF for our first miracle. We have had 9 foster kids since he was born and started the domestic adoption process when he was 10 month old, we had 4 failed matches in that time. After our daughter was born we brought her home and spent 2 weeks fearing we might lose her because of complications that came up. But Praise God all went through and she is ours forever! • I'm right there with you.  I'm so bloated that I can't keep my pants buttoned.  If it's a good sign though then I'm all for it :)
  • I am definitely bloated - ugh!

  • I'm glad it's not just me! I feel like a piggy eating everything in site. If I keep this up, I'll gain 100 pounds Big Smile (with pleasure, of course!)

  • oh definitely! i had OHSS so mine was worse but when i got rid of that i still had the bloat. i'm back into my pants/shorts again so that's nice. i've been so hungry too. GL ...
  • I'm still super bloated too and it started right after the ER.  I keep hearing it will go away around 11-13 weeks, probably when I stop the PIO.  I can't wait until it is gone and the baby bump appears.  The bella band can be very helpful!

  • Me too!  Me too!  I am so frickin' bloated.  A couple of days ago I developed a hard, round belly.  It's ridiculous.  I do have to say that the non-stop hunger has tapered in the last week, which is good.
  • same here actually - the nonstop hunger has disappeared - weight gain = still there though....:(

  • heck yeah it's bloat...I had OHSS from IVF and I was in maternity jeans by 10 weeks.  I could have used them at 5 1/2 weeks, but I held out.  It was better by week 10, however I had also given up on my normal clothes.  When I tried maternity jeans on, I was furious I hadn't discovered them sooner (like 2 years ago when I gained weight:).

  • I've been bloated (seriously bloated) since before my BFP.  My RE told me today not to expect it to go away (until it turns into a baby belly).  My insane hunger took a few more days to arrive, but by 4w5d or so it was definitely in full swing.  Sounds normal to me!

  • I didn't have that much bloating at the very beginning and that made me so nervous.  I hear ya on the eating though.  I had to eat very often.  Congrats again!  I am so happy for you!
  • I was bloated through all of IVF, and still am at 12+ weeks!!!  And you are right - my RE told me I would stay bloated as long as I was rapidly producing hcg (it keeps the ovaries swollen), so it means you are pregnant : )

    Congrats!!
