Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Update to last nights post about my poor constipated baby

So I finally got a hold of his Pedi and he said to replace his morning formula with diluted apple juice. I swore up and down I wouldnt give DS juice but I think he needs it! Hopefully too much formula, not enough other fluids is the problem and nothing too serious!

He said to try the juice and if it bleeds again to call back. The only problem I have with this pedi is he is super old school and relaxed so he is to the extreme other end of where my worrysome brain is. Its a blessing and a curse but he said the bleeding could be due to too much formula, not enough anything else, like water and food. I posted earlier too that he is doing a solids strike and he refuses to drink water (He plays with it and spits it out). I am hoping the sweet juice will help him intake more fluids. Of course I am totally diluting it by 1/2... Lets hope no more bleeding!

For sure! I think my pedi is old school on some things too and it makes me Huh? especially when I hear so many other ped's saying something different but I listen to her because that's what I pay her for. Big Smile

Anyway, I hope the juice works. Today while we were out Simon was acting like he was thirsty so I took a straw and sucked a little water up in it, then plugged the top with my finger. Then he would put the end of the straw in his mouth and I would let go of the top! It worked really well, so if he doesn't take any juice out of a sippy or bottle, you could try that.

I make that exact face too when I talk to him LOL and I must have repeated how worried I was about the blood 5 times during our 5 minute talk but he didn't seem worried at all so I will suck it up. I already know DH is going to say "I told you so"...

But Isaiah will take it from a straw like that too but still plays with it and lets it seep out of his mouth... and my MIL swears he drinks from a cup for her (even though he wont for me!) so hopefully she can get him to drink the juice. Unfortunately I am not there weekday's so this weekend will be my attempt at juice. heck, I'll probably try tonight so I can be the FIRST to give him juice... bwahahahaha (evil laugh)

Or maybe try a small plastic cup. My DD thinks she is so big when I let her drink from a cup. It might be a little messy but it might help?
