So, it would appear that I managed to total my car in the accident yesterday. It was a minor accident, but the whole front end of the car will have to be replaced. ![]()
I need to buy a new car seat, but I want to go to Raleigh (45 minutes away) to buy so I can get a nicer one than what I can get at Walmart here. In the meantime, I have access to the seat my mom has in her car.
I'm going to have to rent a car until we get a new car. They have child safety seats available. Has anyone ever used the rental company seats? Would I be better off using that seat and letting my mom keep the one in her car (which gets used a fair bit)? Money is less of an issue than convenience here (obviously safety is the biggest issue!).
Re: Question about car rental safety seats...
I can't ever recommend renting a car seat. Not only can the be super skeevy (how many kids have had a blow out in it? EW!) but you have no idea the true history of those seats- whether they've been in accidents, if they've been dropped or handled roughly, or if they've been damaged in some other way that isnt evident.
If you can borrow your mom's, do that. If you cant but still want to wait to get a better seat, go to Target and get a Cosco Scenera for $40. It's a great "extra" seat to have anyway.
