Cloth Diapering

CD Laws

Does anyone know where I can find state regulation laws on cloth diapering in daycare facilities?

Re: CD Laws

  • I don't, but just wanted to tell you that I've heard trying to fight daycares to get them to cloth diaper just isn't worth it since most facilities can be so selective anyway.

  • I'm not sure...I would just try to Google search your state's childcare regulations. Or try to find some contact info for someone who works with your state's childcare regulation dept. or whatever and call/write them for more info.

I used to work for a daycare and we never had anyone who CD'd. But I honestly don't see why it would be a big deal. They probably won't be able to spray the diapers in the toilet or anything like that, but they may be able to just stick it in your wet bag and you may have to do extra cleaning at home...Not sure on this one.

Good luck in your search, sorry I wasn't of more help!

  • I went to my state web site and did a search.  They should have all their regulations, including diapering laws, on their site.

  • no idea but ive heard if you show them the diaper most will accept AIOs and pockets(if you pre-stuff them) as long as you provide them (duh) and you provide a wet bag for them to put the dirty ones into for you to take home and wash
  • I'm not saying this to be rud or anything but my question would be why would you want to force them to do it?  I'd say you're probably better off looking for a DC that is willing to do it without you having to show them that they have to by law.

Sounds to me like they wouldn't do a good job anyway if you forced them...
I'm no help on your question BTW...but I wish they had regulations on cloth diapering at my mom's house without having to hear her complain about it everyday!  LOL

  • My daycare was very receptive.  Only thing is I couldn't just bring in a wetbag (which I spent a fortune on), I had to provide a lined trash can with a lid that had a foot pedal to open so the daycare workers didn't have to touch the lid to drop in the dipe...random, but we just bought a kitchen trash can.

This.  A wet bag was not enough.  They need it contained in something with a lid.

  • Thanks, I was hoping to find something but didn't have much luck with google.  We already have a sitter who is fine with cloth diapers, but I wanted to know because some places that I saw online or interviewed with said they can't cloth diaper because there are state laws restricting it.  I would like to see the documentation because I'm not certain they aren't just pulling these "laws" out of their @sses.

  • I live in CO and have interviewed 4 centers. Each of them said they would do it but had to follow sanitation laws. This would prohibit them from rinsing out the daipers or using any kind of a wet bag. The soiled diapers would all have to be put in a plastic garbage bag in a trash can with a lid that would not need to be touched to be opened. None of them were against it but only 1/2 of them had admitted to having any experience with it. (May just be playing dumb though if they don't like it!)
