Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Moms of small babies... when did LOs fit into 0-3m clothes?

My baby is coming up on a month old and she's just now fitting into newborn stuff (but only from brands that run small). When did your kiddo start wearing 0-3 month stuff? Did they eventually catch up and start fitting in the 'right' size for their age? Thanks!

  • My LO was 6# 5 oz at birth and had to grow into her NB clothes. She is now fitting into them fairly nicely. I was able to start putting some on her at 2 months, but mainly the Carter's clothing.

GL and enjoy your LO not growing out of everything so fast. Look at it this way atleast you get more use out of your clothes!

  • Oh and yes, she is catching up but some 0-3 still fits her BIG!

The Gerber brand fit her nicely at newborn as well as the Carters.

Good point! Carters is the brand that my LO fits the best, too. Have you found any other brands that run small? Little Me also works for us!

Dang! That's what my LO weighs now at almost a month old... looks like I might have a while until we get to the 0-3 month stuff.

  • I started putting her in the newborn stuff at about 5 to 6 weeks.  LO left the hospital at 6 lbs.  She is 9 weeks and wears the 0-3 size now.  Most of them will fit her for a while still but certain brands are already looking small.  By her 2 month check up, she is at the "right size" in tops but bottoms and socks are still way bigger on her.

They're STICKERS. You can get them at pickysticky.com...I think that is right. Someone one this board told me about them. Super easy to use!

  • Odd one out here .. LO was born at 8.13, and though he grew out of his nb diapers when he was one week old, 0-3 are still super big on him .. so he still is in his NB clothes. He was 9lbs at 1 week, and hasnt been weighed since. I know it sounds redic, but idk where the weight is. He looks tiny to me. I have only put him in a new 0-3 month old stuff, mainly sleepers since i didnt have many NB sleepers since i knew he was going to be over 8 lbs since i was 36 weeks old. But as far as clothes during the day, hes in caters or gerber NB outfits, the ones with the onezie & pants. Maybe those just run big, but i love em !

  • DD2 was 7lbs. 15oz. at birth, but she was short (18.5") and lost a full pound in the first few days and didn't gain back to her birth weight until she was 3 weeks old. She wore some preemie stuff at first (especially pants, her legs are really short compared to the rest of her body) but mostly has been in NB.

We're just starting to move her into 3 month stuff, but she still fits into pretty much all her NB things with the exception of a few sleepers that were smaller to begin with and onesies are getting tight since her torso is long. She'll be 2 months next week and weighs just under 10lbs now and is about 21" long.

DD1 was even smaller and wore NB stuff until around 3 months when she started wearing 0-3 full time.

  • MY LO WAS 5 LBS 11 OZ AND 17 INCHES AT BIRTH. SHE JUST STARTED WEARING 0-3 M AT 9 WEEKS. SOME THINGS ARE STILL PRETTY BIG THOUGH.  CARTERS AND FALLS CREEK FIT THE BEST. SORRY FOR ALL CAPS.. STUPID IPOD TOUCH.

  • Luke weighed 3.9 at birth! He wore preemie until week 5. Then newborn until 8 weeks. Then about 2 months started wearing some 0-3. Now hes made a sudden jump to 3 month clothing and hes excatly 3 months. So he caught up in 3 months! Im so proud! And those 3 months are even a little short!

  • Mine is almost 5 weeks and we are still in NB just out grew premie. She has gained 2 pounds though and now weighs 8 she is just short 20 inches she did grow a half inch thou. Maybe she's going to be like her sister who stayed in newborn until 3 months and 0-3 until 6 months. She was seriously in 6-9 months clothes when she was a year old. So don't fret at least they get to wear cute clothes longer!!

  • My son was 4 lb 13 oz, 18" at birth and was in preemie clothes until about 7 weeks.  He is now 13 weeks about 9 lb 9 oz and is just barely starting to grow out of his NB clothes, I haven't packed any away yet, but I expect him to be fully out of NB within a week or so.  I do put him in some 0-3 outfits and they are starting to fit better, but the pants are all still really big.

  • DS was 4lbs 10 oz  17.5 in and in preemie for the 1st 2 months.  Than NB until 3 months and now 0-3 and some 3-6 months.

  • My LO was 5# 10oz at birth and 19". He 'just' started wearing 0-3 clothes around 8-10 weeks. He's 13 weeks now and 3mo clothes are still huge on him. He can still fit into NB pants.

  • DD was 6 lb, 3 oz and 18 inches at birth, and she wore NB clothes until she had a HUGE growth spurt at 6 weeks.

She fits nicely into 0-3 clothes now, and at her 2 month check, she was 9 lb, 10 oz and 21 inches. At this rate, I'm guessing she'll start wearing 3-6 month clothes around 4 months.

  • DD was 7lbs even at birth, she went down to 6lb 7oz and then was slow to gain back. She was nearly a month before she hit 7lbs 4oz, but we figured out why she wasn't gaining and really took off from there.

Anyway, it took her a bit to grow in her NB outfits. She just started fitting into 0-3 about a week or two ago (10 weeks tomorrow). She was up to 10lb 8oz at her 2 month check up.

  • DD was 6 lbs 2 oz at birth and only started into 0-3 (mostly carters) in the last week or so and it's all still too big but her newborn stuff was getting too snug especially in the length.

  • My daughter is 3 months and still fits into some of her newborn clothes.  She was born 8 lbs 2 oz and was wearing NB until 7-8 weeks.  Mostly she outgrew them lengthwise and is in 0-3 in anything that has attached feet, but anything else the NB still fits.  So right now she is mostly wearing 0-3 since I have a lot of that and not too much NB stuff.  (I assumed she wouldn't be wearing it for long so didn't get much.)  I've found Gerber and Carters fit her the best.  She has a few other brands that the 0-3 size is still huge on her.  It really depends on the brand.

My problem is that a lot of her 0-3 clothes are short sleeve or sleeveless since she was due in August.  We just have to layer her with a long sleeved onsie a lot of the time.  That works just fine.

  • Sophie was 5 lbs 15 oz when she was born and she is still in newborn stuff. The sleepers with feet fit just about perfect, and almost look like they may get too short for her soon. When she really stretches, they do a little, too. I haven't even really tried her in 0-3 yet. I want to, though, cause I am getting bored with her NB clothes. Stick out tongue
