HELP Sick Kids

Hi All,

I my twins have a cold.  I do not know how much liquid they have to drink.  The will only drink 4-5 oz of their bottles.  I tried chicken broth and DS drank some DD would not even try it.  She would not even drink apple juice.  I am not sure how much fluids they need and if I should be worried or if anyone knows what else I can try.  She ate about 2oz of applesauce and is eating cherrios.  That is all I have been able to get her to eat today.  Any advice would be great!  TIA

  • Don't be so concerned about oz's.  Just watch for wet diapers.  She should have 3-4 wet diapers a day I believe is what the pedi told me.  Whatever is normal for her.  If she stops having wet diapers she is dehydrated!

  • When DD was sick our pedi said that she needed about 15 ozs a day (DD was about 18 lbs).  There were a couple of days I don't think I even got 4 oz in DD!  She told me to give her pedialyte from a syringe.  It was a large syringe that you would give medicine in and I syringed in 10-12 oz of pedialyte and the next day got a little better, etc.  It is time consuming and I can't imagine having twins to care for, but it is worth a try.  Our pedi also said that applesauce counts and that is all DD would eat when she was sick.  GL!!
