Faja or Girdle after the baby???

Several people have told me I need to get into a "faja" (girdle) asap after the birth of this baby to help my tummy and everything else get back in place. Did you guys do this? If so- how long after delivery and what kind did you get? One girl told me she put that thing on right after the baby came out! That seems a bit quick to me!

Thanks!

Mari

Re: Faja or Girdle after the baby???

  • my dr prescribed me one 3 days after the birth

i wore it everyday and now i wear it when i have an event to go to since i still havent dropped all the baby weight...it takes a while. and unfortunatley we dont all have the blessing of going back to our tight pre-baby figures

  • I didn't after Noah (vag birth) but I was put in one immediately after my c-section with Kate and wore it for 3 weeks.  It helped tremendously and I would recommend it to anyone.  Mine was called a velcro binder and it was supplied by the hospital.  Maybe ask your doctor about it?
  • I purchased a support belt at the Motherhood store and put it on the next day and wore it for three weeks.  It sucke in everything and provides back support.  It definitely helped.  I used it both times.

  • My hospital gave me a girdle to wear the day after I gave birth (I had a c section).  I wore it all the time and only took it off to shower.  When I got home I bought another one with shorts and wore it for like 6-8 weeks all the time.  It really helped my tummy go down.  I totally recommend wearing a faja/girdle.

  • Yes but not for cosmetic reasons, it was for comfort and support.  I don't know if they do the same for vaginal deliveries but I had a c-section and the hospital nurse put me in a support belt once I came up to the ward.  I wore it for about 3 weeks and I could not get out of bed without being in severe pain without it.  I don't know what I would have done if I didn't have it.
  • i had a vaginal birth and did not get one. my stomach pretty much went back to normal in a few weeks. i still have a little pooch, but it was there pre-pregnancy too, and i still have about 5 pounds to lose anyway.
  • it used to be standard with all C/S but recently the hosptial took it out of the order sheet. you can ask your doctor to order and abdomenal binder. I bought 2, 1  from BRU and another that was a real one that is brazilian....you have never seen a brazillian with a gut lol anyway it worked wonders but I'm really short so it bothered me like crazy cuz it was made for a 5ft 3 in woman and i'm 5-0 anyway I totally recommend it...expecially if you will be BF because your back will need the support with the ever growing breasts messing with your posture...let alone the many hours you'll spend hunched with your baby feeding.

Good luck mama, I can't believe your little one will be here any day now :)

  • my mom told me the same thing but i didnt buy one. After the birth of DS i never used pregnancy clothes again. I went back to my size very quickly
  • I WISH I would have seen a post like this before I had my C-section.  I didn't have one nor did the hospital/doctor order.  Definitely do this.  I wish I had.
