I'm a SAHM who used to work in Foster Care. I also work freelance for two different Photography Studios as a second shooter for weddings. They call me if they need me and I can always say no, it's great!
Good for you! How do you like it? I've thought about doing foster care. Our county's United Way has a program for 72 hr care in which you would take in children for max of 72 hrs at any time of day. It's for parents who need a break or it's been used for people who go into labor and their spouse is traveling and no one can watch their kids. It has all sorts of uses and child services won't get involved as long as they are there no more than the 72 hrs.
I liked it because I felt like I was helping the kids, butit was very hard and frustrating at times. It was even harder being a mom and seeing what parents do to their own kids. Respite care would be great and is very needed! Just know that if you do it some kids will feel like the foster parent aren't coming back and act out. They are always in need of good foster parents/respite care.
I used to work at a chemical dependency clinic for women w/children and it broke my heart everyday! I'll think about it more when we have children of our own. Yeah I can imagine children would be very worried about their parents coming back for them!
I think anything in the social services field is really hard. MH is a police officer and anytime he has something with kids it hits him really hard. I often think about doing respite care now that I don't work there anymore, but will wait until my kids are older. Good Luck to you!
Epidemiologist at a public health research organization (non-profit of course). My focus is nutrition research, but I work within many areas of public and community health.
Another lawyer for the yarn store! Or bakery..I've always wanted to own a cupcake store but DH says that wouldn't be a money maker :-)
Isn't it funny that most of the lawyers want to do something else? And to the PP in Ohio whose husband had his job offer rescinded....don't you gag every time you hear someone say they want to go to law school? Argh. What a waste of money.
I was a Bilingual/Elementary Ed teacher, but I was laid off so I'm at SAHW for now. I'm currently looking into going back to school for Clinical Psychology. It's what I wanted to do when I first started college, and I should've followed my heart.
I am a Kindergarten teacher, most days I really love my job, but it is also pretty stressful. My favorite thing about teaching are when kids "get it", when my kids will get excited and point out a word that we learned in class and they find it in a book, that really is the best feeling.

I'm a full-time nanny for 10-month-old twin girls. I absolutely love it, even though it does make me a little sick that I'll be paying student loans until my kids are in college for a degree I'm not using.

I'm a Zumba instructor but I really want to be a novelist. I'm working on it!
I discovered Zumba last month and now I am addicted. I love to dance and am always looking to change up my exercise program. I can't believe I didn't find it sooner.

I taught K for 7 years and loved Jan./Feb. because the kids really started to "get it" and make great leaps.
I'm late to the party (as usual). I'm a physical therapist, and I'm certified to do FCEs (a type of functional return-to-work safety testing), so I mainly worked with workers comp patients and I loved it! We recently moved, so for the past month or so I've enjoyed being a SAHW, but I'd love to make that SAHM!
Re: what do you do...

Geriatric LPN. (Now I am a SAHwife)
I do miss it sometimes. It was very rewarding. Thinking about going back part time.
Ok, how's this for depressing? I manage accidental death and dismemberment claims for an insurance company.
I'd like to go back to school to become an ultrasound tech.
If I had any talent whatsoever, my dream job would be in photography.
