baby's sleep position?

a few days ago LO started rolling over (from back to left side & kind of on belly)  She can roll back to her back, but tends to just stay on her side/tummy.  I don't worry when she does it during the day, but she also is doing it in her bassinet while she sleeps.  I am worried b/c I know she is supposed to be on her back to sleep but what does a girl do when baby won't stay on her back??  She does have a lot of head control but she can't sit up unassisted or anything yet...any suggestions on what to do? or when they can do it, they are just going do it?

    Personally, we've just left LO as is when he rolls cuz when he first started rolling, I would roll him back and he'd roll again so I wasn't gonna sit there all night rolling him back! But I'd just do whatever you're comfortable with cuz even though they recommend "back to sleep" until 1, I actually put LO down on his tummy most of the time. He's such a super light sleeper that it was the only way he'd get any decent sleep. But we're comfortable with that, esp since he'd just roll on his tummy anyway. In fact, sometimes I feel safer about my putting him down on his tummy because I can make sure that his face is opened to the side so he can breathe better whereas when he rolls on his tummy on his own, he'll sometimes turn his face straight down into the mattress and that scares me more.

    About 50% of the time, K will sleep on his side.  At first, I would try to put him back to sleep on his back, but that would just wake him up and then I'd have to spend the next 30mins trying to get him back to bed...so now I just leave him as is.  

    If he manages to roll over at night (his crib is next to our bed), I usually hear him make a noise or something and get up to check.  If he's completely on his tummy, I pick him up and walk about for a few minutes then put him back to bed on his back.  I figure if he's sleeping soundly on his side, then it should be ok.

    At this point, if they roll onto their stomachs to sleep, we let them stay that way (both during naps and at night). I figure that by this point the risk is pretty minimal. Dash sleeps that way about half the time - more often if he's not in a sleepsack, and even when he is in a sack he travels all around the crib at night (Will tends to just roll side to side, but we'll find Dash turned 180 degrees and at the opposite end of the crib in the morning). Even if we roll them onto their backs, they roll straight back onto their tummies - they know what they want!

    right...this is what scares me!  I don't have a problem with her rolling onto her side or tummy...it's the rolling onto her face.  I am sure she knows who to get back off her face, but when I see it, I freak out & try to move her back!  

    glad to know it's not just my crazy LO!

    Will does this sometimes - it scared the crap out of me the first time, and I have to admit I do turn his head to the side when I see him doing this (I don't roll him over completely, just turn his head while he's sleeping).

    Used to freak me out too.  As soon as she could roll over, she became a belly sleeper.  i tried rolling her back, but she would either just roll back or I'd wind up waking her up, which was kinda counter productive.  I finally just let her have her way and stopped futzing w. her.

    yeah once she learned how to roll over onto her tummy i just let her be. she'd always turn over even if i put her on her back. she had really good head control though so i wasn't too concerned.  i did have to stop swaddling her when this happened though so if you are still swaddling i would make sure to stop that
