Poll: How did you decide?

I'm starting to look into CD as I know it's something I want to do but am still not sure how I'd actually make a choice having never used anything before (aside from partially experience some BumGenius by means of a close friend and her babies). How did you make a final choice of brand and type? Thanks for your input!

I bought a little of everything and found what worked. For me its fitteds and covers with some BGs for thrown in for DH.

I lurked the boards a lot and bought a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Right now we have a mix of MS fitteds, pockets (MS, MonkeyToe, Blueberry, BG, and a few I'm probably missing), and a couple of Thirsties Fab Fitteds.

I just finished a trial from a local store and it was great. I got to try 8 different diapers - different types and brands. It really helped me figure out what worked from my DD and DH!

I wouldn't put all your eggs in one basket and buy a stash of entirely one type because you don't know how they will fit your LO. I recommend shopping sales and buying used to build a stash that has a variety. Or you could do a diaper trial (like the one from Jillian's Drawers). My stash is a mix of pockets, some AIOs and fitteds (my new obsession). I love having a mix because there's more than one diaper that I like.

This is what we have:

Pockets: BGs, Swaddlebees, Blueberry, FB (OS and perfect size), RaR.

AIOs: BG sized AIOs, BG Elemental, Bottom Bumpers, RaR Lil Joeys (which are being stored for baby #2 some day)

Fitteds: GM, Piddle Poddles, Thirsties Fab fitteds, BG bamboo fitteds (though I just sold some), Little Beetle, Kiwi Pie, SBish (sized and OS snapless).

Plus various covers and some wool longies/soakers.

Thanks for all the info (everyone!). Can you tell me what the FB (something like fuzzy bum? I feel like I've heard of something like that before...), RaR and GM abbreviations stand for please? Do you just search for sales online? Any site in particular that sells more than one brand? I clicked the CD link in your siggy and will be spending time searching through that site. I'm glad I started looking around early!

We bought a couple of everything...I do like the fit of the BG's on DS best but the velcro isn't great (it's been fixed on the 4.0's) but all of the ones we have work for us...the HH seem a bit big for the tiny guy. For daycare we use the BG's and at night we use Rumparoo's or a fitted with wool.

FB is fuzzi bunz, RaR is Rumparoo's (these work great for us but the rise isn't as high so may not last as long), GM is Goodmama (one of my favorite fitteds). I bought a lot on Spots Corner on Hyena Cart that way if it didn't work for us, I didn't feel like I was out a lot of money.
