2nd time moms shower ?

So is anyone throwing you a shower or are you planning to have one? I was thinking a meet and greet once this little one is born, but I have a feeling someone might be planning a baby surprise shower and just wondering if any second time moms had this done for them?

 thanks :)

Re: 2nd time moms shower ?

  • We had one. I did not want one and wanted to do a meet and great but my family kept bringing on up. I let my sister plan one that was just family and close friends. I did not make a registry and just let people buy what they wanted.

  • I told my friends and fam I didn't want to have one. My team at work ended up throwing me a really nice surprise shower though which I really appreciated.
  • As far as I know, nobody is going to throw me a baby shower. I haven't even registered anywhere.  I'm buying the necessities myself.
  • Yeah that's what we have been doing as well... I mean when asked what we wanted for xmas from our parents... gc to places like BRU or Walmart to get stuff we need but that's becuase we are more practical gift givers and that works for us... I know my mom is buying aus a rocking chair as well for this baby. We will see...

  • I specifically told my mom early in my pregnancy that I didn't want a 2nd shower.  I don't think anyone was planning to do one, but somehow it came up and I told her we really didn't need one.  My family (mom, aunt, cousin, 2 grandmas) is going to get together and help me make a bunch of freezer meals one weekend before LO arrives.  I plan to buy all the supplies, just their help in cooking/cleaning up is all I want!

If anyone asks I'll tell them we could use some bibs, burp cloths, pacifiers, etc...but we've bought all the 'big' items we needed this time around.  And luckily there weren't very many, my friends and family were very generous the first time around :)

The giftcards someone else mentioned is a great idea too.

  • My step mom and sister-in-law are planning a shower for me, but I am only putting like basic cheap stuff on my registry, like diapers, wipes, packs of onesies, pacifiers, receiving blankets. (not putting anything like highchairs, strollers, swings or anything like that...) this baby is a diff sex.... but I want it to be more of just a celebration of our new lil joy then really a full blown present giving shower.

  • I told family and friends from the beginning that I didn't want a shower. My best friend and family insisted, I made one registry of small items I need. I'll be buying all of the big stuff on my own.

  • My mom and sisters gave me one yesterday.  I didn't want it, but I am not happy that they did it for me.  I forgot how many "little" items are needed in the first few weeks.

  • I'm having a small shower at 36 weeks - just family and close friends and couples this time so that it's more of a get together than a shower - no games, extended present opening, etc.  Our DD is almost five and we gave almost everything away to friends who were in need since then.  Most of what's on our registry are the small things.  Mostly just looking forward to celebrating!
  • as far as i know no one is planning one for me. I am not expecting one either since we have pretty much everything that we need.

  • We have not had one and we won't be having one. We really didn't need much anyway. We'll probably do a meet and greet type thing after baby is born.

  • I had 2. My mom threw me a brunch at a Restaurant with about 20 people and my MIL had one for me today with about 14 people. My MILs was really awkward because it was all her friends and I just felt weird getting gifts from them, I was shocked at the amount of stuff we received in all! Our families were very generous and excited for this little girl.

  • I'm having one, a friend has decided I need to suck it up and deal with getting one... that being said, I didn't have one with my first two and my youngest is 7 so I don't have anything left from when he was little.
