Parenting after a Loss

I may jinx myself, but...

this no paci thing has gone A LOT easier than I expected. THANK GOD!!! She hasn't had her beloved paci since her afternoon nap on Thursday...and we threw her favorite away....after DH cut the tip off and she grabbed it and threw it on the floor and scooted right past it like it was yesterday's paper.

  • Confused should we be getting rid of pacis at 11mo?

*kids still have pacis, honest question*

  • It was just something we decided to do, and was the right decision for us. There's no rule saying when you should get rid of the paci.

  • wheew.....DS would probably disown us if we took his paci away, DD would probably be indifferent, though
  • I thought it was going to be the start of WW3. But she surprised us both!

  • DS and DD are way too smart for their own good.....and they can hold grudges.  Mommy took DS's paci away when they were coming inside last week (he'd dropped it in a puddle outside.....it needed to be cleaned and sterilized), though he was grabbing for it, and he smacked the spoon out of her hand across the floor (it was lunch time) then....he started kicking at her when she was trying to take him out of the highchair.....swatted at her again......then sat on the floor crying right below where he thought it was, on the counter........he is very attached to that specific paci....
  • We're going to try soon. I hope we have the same luck. I'm glad it's going so well for you!.

Good luck to you! If I may offer some advice....if she has a favorite, cut the tip off. She won't like it anymore. I think that really helped! That way when she grabbed it and put it in her mouth, she was like wtf I don't like this thing!
