Evalina and Kalila?

-->

What do you ladies think of these names?

Kalila is pronounced ka-lee-la which means "beloved" in Arabic.

Evalina means "bird" in Latin and "life" in Hebrew.

Re: Evalina and Kalila?

  • I can't say that I love Kalila. It just doesn't roll off my tongue right. I like Evalina better, but neither are really my style. The meanings however, are really beautiful. I think if you love them then they are just perfect!

  • They both seem like a bit of a mouthful. I don't love either one.

  • Out of the two I like Evalina better, it's actually kinda pretty, but Kalila sounds like something a kid would name their imaginary friend

  • IMO, Evalina is beautiful. You could always call her Eva for short.

    On that note, I will say that having an Arabic name is difficult as people usually unintentionally butcher it. My family is Lebanese and while I love my name (Jehan) people always want to pronounce it "John".

    I would definitely go with Evalina.

    Another ditto.

    Also, I think Evalina would get called "evil-ina" a lot.

  • I love Kalila, AAAAAMAZiNG name, it sounds like Kamila (which I love).

    Go with the name you love, don't worry about others. Most people can't tell the difference between it's and its, do you really expect them to pronounce anything correctly? As long as you enjoy saying the name/hearing it, that's what matters.

  • I completely agree with globetrotter. They are both nice choices with wonderful meanings, so you can't go wrong. It is absurd how some women look down their nose at Kalila and then name their children classic French and Italian names when they are third generation SlimJim eating Nascar fans. Trust me, people of substance are much more amused by that than someone who gave their child a truly unique and significant name like you've chosen.
