Our LO is 3.5 wks old, and we have been bathing her typically once every three days, as her skin gets sooo dry (even with lotion) after a bath. Her skin is starting to get better now, so I think we're going to move to every night in order to help get her settled for bed. Is there a particular age when everyday baths are okay, or does it just depend on your LO?

Um. No. WhoTF said that? A gentle, baby lotion is fine from birth.
It's getting cooler. Cooler air doesn't have as much moisture. The other reason is that some newborns shed some of their skin. I forgot the name for it, but for snakes it's called molting or something like that.
OP, put lotion on your baby if you feel he/she needs it. Just make sure it's gentle, hypo-allergenic and fragrance-free. I love the Aveeno Baby lotion.
our routine for our house is this - and pretty much has been since 1st was born and 6 weeks old.
they get bathes every other day and the days they do not get baths, they get good wipe downs at the dirty areas (sometimes with wet wash clothes, other times with baby wipes) then they get baby lotion all over.
This. Babies do not need baths everyday unless they are dirty. Dry skin can come from a number of different things, including bathing daily. However, I have never heard the "don't put lotion on a baby under 2 months old" bit. I think that is just odd. Anyway, at 3.5 weeks old a baby really only needs a bath 1-2 times a week.

it's question of preference, not a bloody rule. it won't hurt...contrary to what the pp i quoted meant to say.
It is more like every three days with us. The bath relaxes her to the point of practically falling asleep, but she hates getting out! I blame our cold house.
This. I found that Johnson and Johnson was not helping at all. It's really thin and has waaaaay too much scent. I now use Aveeno products (yes I know they're made by J&J too but they have different indredients). LO's skin is great and has stopped breaking out and getting scaly.
I bathe my LO every other day unless we have a major blowout or something
If I bathed DS after every poop, he would have 8-12 baths a day! :-)
I bathe DS every day or every other day. He spits up after almost every feeding and I also find that the bath routine calms him down very well and helps him get rid of a bit of gas. He doesn't cry much but gets frequent gas pains so anything to help him feel more comfortable.
lotion is just fine for a newborn...
You can use lotion on a NB. Who the hellll said you can't?
I do not bathe V everyday. More like every other day. We only use all natural lotions and soaps/washes. (Burt's, California Baby...no Johnson's or Aveeno...that stuff is definitely more of a personal preference.)
