I know DD infant car seat had to be bought in Canada due to regulations, they checked when we were leaving the hospital. Can her next car seat be purchased in the States, will it be able to cross the boarder? I plan on buying a britax convertable and they sell the same damn car seat in Can and the US, it just happenes to be cheaper accross the line. I really am only using her infant one as a part of her travel system and she is getting long, it wont be much longer untill she grows out of it. TIA
Re: Car seat question Canadian Bumpies
Unfortunately, you can't do that.
Every country has its own child seat standards and Canadian regulations differ from those in the United States. For example, U.S. certified booster seats have a lower weight limit than Canadian standards.
So even though it's the same seat, it will not bear the National Safety Mark required in Canada.
Police are required to confiscate any car seats bought outside of Canada. You can also be issues fines and/or demerit point penalties.
Border guards will also take away the seats.
Too bad the American prints are so much cuter. I am going to wait for some sorta deal so I feel like I did not break the bank! Thank You for your quick and helpfull response.
It is a pain - not as much selection and twice the price on so many baby things!
