Dh and I are going to TTC in a few months, and as we've been discussing it, I can't help but think about adoption as well. But I have no idea where to begin? thoughts?
We started by reading Adoption for Dummies. Then we talked about what kind of adoption we wanted (domestic vs international), how we wanted to go about it (agency vs facilitator vs lawyer) and started researching our options.
DH and I could not have children. That being said, we discussed the various methods of adoption.
DH and I are also wish grantors for the Make A Wish foundation. About this time, we granted a wish to a little girl in foster care who was being adopted. Her sibling group was also adopted.
2 months later, there was a big article in People magazine about older kids in Foster Care who weren't getting adopted as well as sibling groups.
DH decided in January to attend a Foster/Adopt orientation. We then went through training, we assigned a social worker, and last week met our three babies aged 2, 4, 6 who are siblings. We are currently transitioning their care from their temp foster parents to us. Transition will be complete Halloween weekend, then we will work towards adopting them...
Most important, make sure your DH is on board with adoption too. If you aren't on the same page, then it can't happen successfully. Oh, and it's ok to have both biological and adopted children
I know the feeling you are having- we were that way too. We planned on TTC, but knew we'd want to adopt as well. So we started our search by deciding HOW and WHERE FROM we wanted to adopt. Then we took it from there with books and online research.
Re: considering adoption...what should we do first?

Howdy and welcome to the board!
