Success after IF

I have a WAY TMI Q . . .

So, I'm feeling pretty "itchy" down under.  It's been happening off and on - every couple of days - for the past few weeks.  I have been attributing it to the change in hormones.

I don't have much discharge (yum), and there is no smell or weird color.

Should I call OB, or not?  My concern is a minor infection (maybe BV, not yeast) which could hurt the babies.

And I'm a nurse, so, of course I feel like a dumbass asking about this.  But I'm never good at self-diagnosis.  And I hate to be that high-maintenance patient.

WWYD???

  • If you don't have any discarge or smell I would think it wouldn't be anything to be concerned about. Have you used a new soap lately? It could also be the colder weather could be drying things out. I would say if you are really concerned, to call. That is what we pay the doctors for!!

  • Hey Lanie -

I found out I had an infection when all I was doing was spotting - no weird discharge, no smell, no itching. So they put me on antibiotics anyway and it cleared it up. You *might* call them just in case they want to check your white blood cell count and take care of it before it gets any worse.

I don't think it should be hurting your babies or anything - they weren't afraid of my spotting hurting anything when they checked that everything else was ok, but still - they wanted to clear it up.

    GL!?

    GL!

Thanks Molly!  I think I needed to hear that I'm not crazy if I call them.

  • I don't think a call to your OB would be a big deal - good luck!
  • I've had the same thing.  This is the pg symptom no one tells you about.  Lucky us for getting it.  My doctor said it's just a change in the hormonal/ph balance from pregnancy.  He ok'd using Vagisil anti-itch cream.  Boo for itchy crotch.
  • I had MAJOR itchy snitch early on... benign.

     Diluted tea tree oil rocks!

However, I must warn, BV in late pregnancy can be big troubles for womb infections.A friend lost her baby due to cord infection  ;-(
