Dog owners...

How do you handle having a dog with shedding? We have a black lab. We keep the bedrooms closed off with gates so your dog can't go on the carpet. Our LO has his tummy time in his room, where it is dog hair free. I am just dreading the day when our LO is actively moving and crawling throughout the house. I can't stand  having dog hair on things. How do you deal with it? Do you put your LO on the floor where your dog is and just not worry about the hair?

    First, I took up the carpets so that we are to the hardwood, and I sweep A LOT. Then, I have a blanket that I lay down to put the baby on, so at least there is a layer of clean between her and the floor. Its the best we can do, but there will always be a little bit of fur. Its all a part of having a dog.

    I have 2 black labs and a huge Swiss Mountain Dog (weighs over 140lbs) and we have to vacuum/sleep religiously but he still gets hair on him. I have just accepted that the hair comes with the dogs and that it won't kill him.

    We have three dogs, and while they are all short haired dogs, they still shed.  We have hardwoods, so I just swiffer them frequently, and vacuum the area rugs as often as I can.  When we put LO on the floor, it's either on a blanket or her playmat.  She's going to be around dog hair her whole life, so we cant expect to shield her from it!

    Lol! I have always LOVED big dogs, but we never planned on actually getting one. My DF was working on this farm and they had two but had to get rid of them because their guard dog kept on attacking them. I absolutely fell in love with the breed! They are such big babies! Here is a picture of our Bear dog!

    I do my best to brush our dogs as much as possible along with vacuuming.  But like PP said, it just comes with the territory of owning a dog.  I do keep LO's bedroom dog & cat free so he has that area fur free.  Right now for Tummy Time he is on a mat/blanket depending.  Once he gets crawling though, there's not much else you can do but vacuum the hell out of the carpet.  Or sweep if have wood floors.  lol

    I'm lurking because I don't have LO yet - but I also have a Samoyed!  Beautiful  but hairy.  Wouldn't trade her for the world!

    I have a black lab too and her hair is everywhere no matter how much we sweep and vacuum it's just part of having a dog. I try to keep a blanket under lo but it doesn't help that our dog wants to cuddle with the baby so she puts her head on his blanket when ever she can oh well it won't be long before they are playing together like my older son does with our dog

    I have corgis that shed A LOT!  I vacuum twice a day (it calms the baby) and put a blanket down under the boppy for tummy time.

    Vacuum/sweep frequently

    Feed a good, high quality food. It will reduce shedding. Feed 4-6 star rated food from www.dogfoodanalysis.com

    Brush daily (or have DH do it)

    A little dog hair never hurt anyone.

    I just plan on not obsessing about it.  We keep the house as hair-free as possible, using our Dyson pet hair vacuum.  When possible I'll put him on a blanket or playmat.  We also close off low-traffic areas.  But not much you can do beyond that, especially when DS gets more mobile.

    This. I have two dogs and a cat and I have just resigned to the fact that I will always be pulling hairs of her face, pacifier, etc.
