Rash - thrush or clogged milk duct?

Sorry to post here but I haven't had any responses on the BF board, and I called LC and all she did was tell me to nurse more when I told her I had a rash - that it could be a clogged milk duct even though I told her I wasn't having any soreness. I only got to tell her I had a rash - and none of the other symptoms. I am unimpressed again with the LC there. . .

So I have developed a rash - tiny red dots on my breast (towards the side) - and into my underarm area. I have had some vaginal itching, but nothing like the time I really knew that I had a yeast infection. But while I was pregnant I had yeast come back on a culture of my urine - but I didn't have any symptoms - but they had me treat for the yeast infection to be sure. Now I am worried that I could have a yeast infection and not know it. Bryce refused to nurse a couple of times on Sunday - but I thought it was because we were at the ILs and he was so distracted. He is making a clicking noise occasionally while nursing - which I thought may be from my milk coming too fast - but I read on kellymom that can be a symptom of thrush. LO also has a spot of diaper rash. LO just finished a round of antibiotics about 2 weeks ago - due to a teething rash that an urgent care Dr insisted was infected (not his normal Pedi). I haven't had any of the pain that states is the most obvious sign - so has anyone else had thrush present itself this way? Or a clogged duct? How many antibiotics did they prescribe? We just switched onto my husbands insurance so I don't know if it is going to be covered and it couldn't have happened at a worse time money-wise. Would you call your OB if LC was no help? Thanks!

  • I have never had a clogged duct so I am no help on that part but I have had thrush. I know that you can have it without any symptoms but have you checked LO's mouth for any white spots? Apple cider vinegar and water mix is something you can start at home just in case. Rub it on your nipples after nursing and in your LO's mouth before the feeding. Also probiotics for you and LO will help even out your bodies. Oh call your local LLL and ask them I bet they will be way more helpful!!

  • Thanks! I will start with that. It is so frustrating that everytime I have needed help - they offer no advice. I learn so much more on here. I was having supply issues - and they told me "just to power pump" and to go to a local pharmacy to get their advice on herbs. I had already told her I have tried everything.
