6wk DR appt - did you bring LO?

I am due for mine and, since my doc is only available during business hours and this is also when DH works, I trying to figure out if I should find someone to watch DS or if I should bring him with.  It just seems like it would be a little stressful and awkward to have him with me.....

  • I did! She slept the entire time.

  • I did and he slept the whole time.  The doctor and nurses enjoyed seeing him.
  • I brought my LO & she slept the whole time we were in the waiting room. My doc was running 45minutes late so I ended up having to BF her in the exam room, but he was totally ok with it & really enjoyed seeing .  I think most moms have to bring their LO due to BF & also child care issues. If your doc isn't ok with it, I'd say it's time to find another doctor!
Me: 42, DH: 43. We are so grateful to have a 2yr old daughter, conceived naturally after 3 miscarriages & no treatments (our Dr. gave us 1 more month to try on our own before advacing to IVF, & we conceived her naturally in January 2010)! Trying since April 2011 without sucess....MD said we were both "fine" & that if it wasn't happening, it was a chromosomal issue. Finally started Follistim 225mcg injections with an Ovidrel trigger November 2012. Bleeding 11 days post Ovidrel on November 25th. Starting the whole lab/Ultrasound/Follistim cycle again on November 27th...
  • I had brought my dd to mine- she slept the whole time. :)

  • Or nine months, I stared at signs everywhere in my doc's office saying "do not bring children with you" so I didn't bring her. The nurse asked me, "Why didn't you bring her?" I pointed to the signs. "She said, Oh, we mean TODDLERS."

Live and learn. Apparently I was supposed to bring her.

  • I did. DS didn't do much but sleep and stare at the doctor like he remembered himlol

  • I didn't, but only because DH was home, and I live 5 mins from the office.  I was only gone 25 mins total.

  • I didn't, but my DS screamed and barely slept until he was 7 weeks old. I just left him with my DH.

  • I did. I think most OBs are in it for the bubs really. What would they do if none of us brought in the payoff?

DD was pretty unsettled. I had my physical exam holding her on my chest the whole time. Then the Dr took her so I could get up!

  • with #1, yes I did.  She was a great baby and slept the whole time. Staff and OB were thrilled to see her.  If she did wake, she was a happy little bug.

#2, no way. She hates the car seat, so screams the entire time and needs to be held when she is awake.  There's no way I would've been able to be examined. LOL

  • My OB saw me 1 week PP and I am going back today 4 weeks PP (I had BP issues) but took LO with me and the nurses and other staff go crazy over her. I love these ladies and wouldn't miss the chance of showing them how DD is thriving. I mea thanks to them and all of their support we made it to 39 weeks and didn't have a premi.

  • I did. I had to bf him while we waited and he laid on my belly while the Dr. checked me out. Weird. He loves when his patients bring the babies in though.

  • I did...and it was a disaster....he woke up just before my dr came in and started having a meltdown...and I ended up in the stirrups and having granulation tissue taken care of while he was screaming on my chest....awesome....then I had to try to carry him out when we were done...needless to say, I either left him with my mom or had her come with me when I had to go back for additional treatments.

  • I will be bringing DS, as he and I see the same family practitioner. My pp is at the same time as his 2mo checkup. Very convenient.
  • I live an hour from my doc's office. Kiddo is coming with.
  • Thanks for all your input!  Sounds like it is stadard practice to bring LO.. since he's usually a pretty mellow baby, I'll plan to bring him.  This makes scheduling my appt much easier!!
