Pregnant after 35

If you got pg easily with #1

Did you have the same luck with # 2?

I got pg with DD very quickly...we joked that her middle name was going to be "fluke"!   We are trying for #2 and I know there's no way of knowing...I am trying not to get my hopes up that its going to be as easy this time around...but I guess I'm also hoping it could be as easy.

Re: If you got pg easily with #1

  • Let me start by saying I recognize just how LUCKY I am - I got pregnant each time (this is preg. #4, baby #3) on the first try.  I'm truly blessed in that dept. and wish I could share it with everyone who encounters struggles of any kind.

  • Got pregnant with #1 on the first try.  Took a little more time with the subsequent pregnancies, but I was also BF a baby.  I am grateful.
  • I have a weird history.  I got pregnant easly with #1, tried for 20 cycles, including six on clomid, two IUIs and finally an IVF to have #2.

Six months after having #2 I got pregnant without medical intervention and we'd only really stopped using birth control the month prior.  I miscarried that baby and three months later got pregnant again while using clomid.  I miscarried that baby as well and now here I am five months later pregnant again from a medicated IUI cycle.

Honestly, you just never know what is going to happen.  I'll be hoping that your second comes along as easily as your first.

Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12

Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck.  Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.

  • #1 was really easy - got pregnant at 37 after a couple of months. We have now been trying for 7 months for #2 and still no luck...

  • I was 33 when I conceived with #1 and 34 with #2 (they're 15 months apart and I weaned #1 in order to TTC)

I got pregnant first try with each and yes I know I'm incredibly lucky.

  • I got pregnant with our son our first month of trying.  We started trying for #2 last month and I just found out I am pregnant...so two cycles this time. Good luck!

  • We got pregnant on the 1st try with DS and on the second try with this little bean.

In the same boat ... got pregnant with DS on the first try  at 38 and now we have been trying since August 2010 for #2. I  just turned 40 a month ago. I imagine a year and half difference in age does not make much of a difference.

  • My first two pregnancies were after 1 month of TTC (first pregnancy ended in a m/c).  This time I got pregnant after 2 months of TTC, so I feel very lucky.
  • second cycle for both pregnancies...we were lucky.

  • I've been pg 3x.

First I was 31 and got pg having sex once when I thought I was Oing.

Didn't try again for a loooooong time.

Second I was 34 and again got pg the first cycle (with a lot of sex every other day)

Third I was 35, made 2 half hearted attempts and then on cycle 3 really went for it and got pg.

Won't be trying again for at least another year and hope I keep getting as lucky.
