Cloth Diapering

CD without a washing machine.

DH and I recently moved. I planned to CD but we had to leave behind our washer/dryer.

My parents and grandparents live nearby and between the two it wouldn't be difficult for me to do laundry 3-4 times a week or as needed until we got a washingmachine.

WDYT. Would you attempt to CD W/O a washer/dryer at home?

Re: CD without a washing machine.

  • I would do it as long as I had access to a machine not in a laundromat.

  • Our machine broke when my LO was born and we are installing our freshly delivered machine as I type. It's been really rough - I ended up alternating disposables and CD. It was good for me to use gDiapers, since not all pieces needed to be replaced with each wet diaper. GL!

This. I hate sposies so if I'd definitely do it if I were you, as long as you have access to a machine.

  • I use a laundromat.  There is more time spent hauling your laundry around, but its no big deal.  The only thing that bothers me is that you are stuck with all of the gunk left over from other people's soap.  It would be great if your relatives used clean rinsing detergents, too!

  • I live in a apartment and dont have a washer. Im planning on cding when my LO gets here. I am completely confident that i can do it. I just plan on having enough diapers to wash every 3 days maybe 3 1/2 days so i can line dry. But if you have access to a washer I think its totally doable. I wouldnt let a washer stop me from cding

  • We use our apartment complex's laundry room - sort of a laundromat, I guess.  I give the machine a quick wipe, then proceed with washing my diapers.  I haven't had any issues and it's completely manageable.
