NHO - Brooke vs. Claire

Hi!

My DH and I just found out that we are having a girl about a week ago, and we are going back and forth between two names...I would love to get your feedback:

Claire Elizabeth

or

Brooke Elizabeth

Also, does Brooke remind anyone too much of the 80's (like Kelly, Jennifer, Jessica, etc.)?

I don't equate Brooke with jennifer and such (although that is the name of my 20something best friend), but I still prefer Claire. Claire is an all time fave for me. Especially that spelling.

There's a couple on the Amazing Race named Brook and Claire. They're both kinda irritating, but Claire got hit in the face with a watermelon and lived to tell about it.

I love both of those names! Unfortunately my niece is Brooklyn, so we didn't go with Brooke. With this baby our second name on the list was Claire Elise.

Anyways, I don't think of Brooke as being outdated at all, and would probably go with it over Claire due to the high popularity of Claire right now.

Both are good choices. I always thought I would name a daughter Brooke, but now I do think it sounds a bit dated. Claire is definitely more popular. My best friend has a daughter named Claire Elizabeth. I guess it depends on if you want her to have a trendier (although also classic) name - Claire, or one that was definitely more popular in the early 80's, but is still very pretty and not overused now. hmmmm not sure.

I like both. My DH wouldn't go for Claire because he thought of the 80s and Claire Huxtable. I guess his memories of Brooke Shields were more positive.

I'm a Brooke and really love my name, though I think they're both good choices. It's fairly uncommon, yet I get a lot of compliments on it. I did get the Brooke Shields association fairly often when I was younger (I was born a year after Blue Lagoon), but I honestly haven't heard it in a long time. People just 10 years younger aren't as familiar with Brooke Shields.

Thanks so much for all of the feedback! It looks like people are pretty split...I think we're leaning towards Claire at the moment, but we'll probably change our minds a million times before she arrives. Thanks for all of the help!

Unfortunately both names have negative associations for me, but I think I like Claire better than Brooke. Brooke does kind of remind me of the 80s.
