I had the most crappy day at work yesterday

I work with a community coalition - one where everyone has their own agendas and never seems to come together to get anything done. Due to my job, I was just named co-chair of this group.

My brand new boss came to yesterday's meeting, and it was a giant clusterfuuck. Completely off topic. I couldn't keep this group focused and on task for anything.

I've already gotten two phone calls this morning from people at the meeting apologizing for how the meeting went and what I had to put up with. And my boss has called me to say that he'd like to talk to me more about it - that it was one of the most dysfunctional meetings that he's been to in a long time. Great. Oh, but he told me not to personalize it and that it wasn't completely our (my agency's) fault.

I just wanted to crawl in a hole and die yesterday. I'm still feeling like that now.

Hope the rest of your week goes better. Guess you'll have to be the "bad guy" at the next meeting to keep everyone on task. When you have your meeting with your boss make sure you have a new strategy as to how you are going to "reel" the people in and back to the subject.

The super shitty part is that in the past, I have been assertive with that group and done a pretty good job of keeping them on topic. I got the knickname "time nazi".

But yesterday the group was just out of control. I was powerless.
