First time mom here....We have decided that we really want to go with the Chicco Carrier, however I can't decide if we should go with the Keyfit 22 or the Keyfit 30. The only difference is that the 22 goes to 22 lbs and the 30 goes to 30 lbs...they both go to 30 inches.
Is LO more likely to get heavier or taller first? Any tips? TIA!
Re: Chicco Infant Carrier
That's interesting, because my BFF just had to get the convertible seat for her son because she said he was too long. But she had a Graco carrier, so maybe the weight limit was more than 22 lbs and he it outgrew it lengthwise before weight.
doesn't matter but if your baby is heavier then maybe you'll need the keyfit 30- otherwise most babies grow out lengthwise versus weight first. I have the Keyfit 30.
We have the Keyfit 30 and LOVE it. It's hard to say if baby will grow out of it by weight or height first, totally depends on the baby! My dd is only 10 lbs 8 oz at 4 months old, but is 24 inches. There is no way in heck she's gonna be over the weight limit before she's too long for it! However, I have a few friends with babies that are bigger and will definitely weigh too much for their carriers soon (one is 20 pounds at 4 months!).
So you never know, but you might as well go with the 30 just in case
FYI-you will not want to carry a 30lb baby in a car seat, so it probably doesn't matter anyway. I moved DD at 7months and I think she was 18lbs and I could barely lift the seat anymore. Even at almost 2 she is still only around 26lbs. Plus the baby looks really uncomfortable after a while and if it is the summer those seats get very hot. I had they Keyfit22 and loved it, and I have the stroller as well and it is awesome.
Example this was DD squished in for her last ride in the Keyfit 22:
