LO SUCKS AT LATCHING!

LO used to latch on so well, everything was going great. Yesterday, his latching just got bad. The intial latch is fine, then it seems like to pushes my nipple around and pushes it out, making it extreaming painful. I have to unlatch and re latch him multiple times, and it seems like hes just not getting enough. When he finally falls off on his own, hes hungry 5 mins later, eating his hands and screaming. I try to have him re-latch and at this point hes so pissed out he wants nothing to do with the idea.

What are some good tips to get him to relatch correctly? I tried every single different hold, i tried holding my breast in the c cup hold, i tried all the techniques i learned at the hospital, nothing works like it used to. He latches perfect, then pushes out and would rather feed off only my nipple. wahhhhh Sad

    Nattie did this. I used a shield for over a week now she will latch very well most of the time. If she doesnt I bust the shield back out.  Maybe he is just fussy because he hit a growth spurt? He may just be hungry and actually is getting enough.

    yeah if i don't use the shield he just plays around. i'd give the shield a shot. if he's really hungry and my nipple is pointy enough he'll take my nipple without the shield still. and it's not as painful with the shield!

    is he really hungry or does he just want to suck? that sounds like what my lo did before I broke down and gave him a pacifier, he wasn't hungry so if he only took the end of my nipple he didn't get as much out but he could still suck. After a few days of that and sore nips I broke down and introduced his "binki"
