Disappointed yet again vent NBR

We were suppose to have our main sewer drain replaced today. Due to bad weather they rescheduled for Thursday. We live in a really small town 2.5 hours from any city. On Thursday we were suppose to go to the big city and go shopping for the baby (at real baby stores like BRU and ikea), eat fantastic authentic Chinese food and goto a concert. Now we can just drive to the city in time for the concert. We can't leave earlier because our dog will be having a nervous breakdown with the workers here. We were already suppose to go away for a couple nights and make this a mini babymoon but our dog sitter fell through so we downsized to a day in the city.

Due to DH's work and school schedule we don't have another time to go shopping until mid January (if we are lucky). Our only options are either to order online without seeing (and paying hefty delievery charges) or Walmart. Nothing against Walmart but our store only carries one crib and two car seats not much of a selection. Not to mention I need Mat clothes for my new job next week and the only place to buy Mat clothes in town will cost me over $100 for a pair of pants. BAH!!! I hate my town and I'm so frustrated and disappointed.

Thank you for letting me vent. I really shouldn't be feeling sorry for myself but I'm having a moment.

  • I know this goes with the buying online and not seeing it before, but if you shop at walmart.com, you can do Site To Store, and they will ship your items to the store for you to pick up, for free.

Just a suggestion to save a bit of $$ on shipping!

  • Have you looked into doggy daycare??  When we still had our dog, we put her in daycare a few times when we had overnights and no friends/family to care for her while we were gone.  It can be pretty expensive, and you'll want to do your research first probably, but it's worth the it if you are comfortable leaving your pup there and can relax on your babymoon and enjoy your dh worry free!!  We left ours for 8 days once (while we went on our honeymoon) and we definitely missed her more than she missed us!! LOL Good luck!!!
